She would sacrifice anything for her four children, and often does. She is a wonderful and responsible mother, but her she remains young at heart. We have so much fun together. She has educated me and my three siblings very well and taught us unwavering morality. Any person would be extremely lucky to be a part of her life. She has had more than her share of heartbreak and emerged all the stronger for it. I work as a teller in a credit union, but my background is in newspaper reporting. I worked in news for three years after getting my degree in journalism and Spanish, until I decided I wanted something different. I quit my job and went to Bolivia to volunteer at an orphanage and low-income daycare. I fell into finance out of necessity when I came back. It turns out I really like it, and there is huge potential for me to serve my local Spanish-speaking community in my current position.
My hobbies include swing dancing, traveling cooking, watching movies, going to concerts, being frugal, and making my life more and more environmentally-friendly. And yes, I am aware that air travel isn't environmentally-friendly. I'm trying to grow wings, but it's not going so well.

I am a SBM, Vegetarian, divorced with interests and tastes that lean toward the eclectic (or in some people's opinions, eccentric), e.g. anime junky, music fanatic, film buff, graphic artist with some life experience that has left me more than open in my views both political and social.
I lived in New York City for 10 years and during that time I visited many wonderful places and met many terrific people. I suppose I lived to excess, which can be liberating. Then again, it can also be limiting. I've let a few things pass me by during my time there; mostly some stability in my life. On first meeting some people consider me to be removed or aloof. I really don't see myself that way and once a person gets to know me they realize none of that to be true. In short, getting to know me isn't easy, but some of my friends have found it worth the trouble and you may too.
Of all the things I am interested in, music is my favorite. I have an extensive music library ranging from David Sylvian to The Chinese Opera. Favorites included David Sylvian, Faith Evans, Francoise Hardy, Etienne Daho, Serge Gainsbourg, Cursive, British Sea Power, Rilo Kiley, Peaches, David Bowie, Futureheads, John Cale, Kate Bush and Leonard Cohen, Miles Davis, Monk and Dexter Gordon.
I'm teaching myself the electric guitar, enjoy movies. An avid reader - mostly political non-fiction and biographies. As for television I enjoy drama, sci-fi and the news.
As for politics, I'm a proud liberal and I believe no one has any lesser value in society; we're all on the same level. Sure, I'm prejudiced, but only when it comes to stupidity and a lack of interest in learning more about oneself and your place in the world.

My goal is to become a middle school English teacher. I'm a HUGE animal lover. I have rescued squirrels, dogs, and cats. Music is a big part of my life, especially rock. Playing volleyball is a big hobby of mine, and I love to try new things! (Except for skydiving...that's scares me to death to even think about haha I don't like that tickle feelings in my belly that you get on roller coasters! :-P. I try not to take certain things in life too seriously as to not get mad or impatient with the small things. I believe everything happens for a reason, and I try to not sweat the small stuff. Occasionally, I volunteer at nursing homes and societies for the handicapped.
I am a licensed cosmetologist, however I am not currently employed at a salon. I am also a certified canine massage therapist. Currently, I am in the process of trying to start my own cosmetic line that benefits animal shelters. My goal is to finish college, get a job at a school, get married, and have children some day.

I have practiced and taught Raja Yoga for 35 years. My wife also had a long standing Raja Yoga practice, and we worked together to extend her life with good quality and comfort well past the limits of her body and vital energy. She had cancer, and survived 3 years past the time when the Cleveland Clinic thought she would die. This gave us time for adventure and also for closure.
I retired to care for my her immediately after fulfilling the requirements for certification as a professional hospital and hospice chaplain. After her death I turned down the job for which I had been training. I believe now that the meaning of that calling was for me to become available to give my her the care she deserved.
Now I am interested in finishing my current book (The Secret of a Happy Life) and living my own life fully while I can. I am as retired as I wish to be at any time. The University and the therapy group I facilitate both are being very supportive, and the Cleveland Opera Orchestra and Cleveland Chamber Symphony are allowing open ended leave. I'm thankful that friends in all of my work places are allowing me unusual options that will permit unlimited freedom without abandoning students and workplace friends who are like family. I plan to continue providing annual two week master classes in music and healing arts in summertime Alaska.
This summer I plan to travel by BMW motorcycle and small motor home to visit National Parks and see friends along the way. Also want to audition sailboats for offshore use. I don't want to spend the rest of my life on a sailboat, but I yearn to experience the beauty of parts of the world I haven't seen. I enjoy the freedom to follow the flow of meaning as it presents itself in my life.
My initial career was as a symphony orchestra oboist. I also have taught at several colleges and have found time for degrees in music, religion, and philosophy along the way.
My religious beliefs are genuine and inclusive, and I am as much at home in an Eastern Temple as in a Christian Church. I celebrate, and participate in, diversity. Although I occasionally attend a Methodist church, my beliefs are very inclusive, and Spiritual Enlightenment is central to my life. A partner need not share my beliefs and experiences, but mutual respect and comfort with diversity are essential.

I like to frequent local pubs, Cleveland Indie Restaurants, farmers markets, bookstores and galleries/museums. I am not into clubs, sports bars, or chain-restaurants. I am also not a sports fan... While I like physical activity and to play some sports, I have no interest in our local sports teams. I might catch one game a season as a social event.

When I leave this world I want to have given back instead of taken from it. I get sad sometimes when I see how out of balance everything is and how unneccesary it is to be this way. I'm vegan for ethical reasons but am enjoying the full health benefits, including being able to bike/jog/work out when I have the time. I'm not a "jock" but I enjoy being fit and keeping mind/body/spirit in synch. I'm a crazily creative person, mostly art and writing. I love films of all sorts, from cartoons and animated movies to old B&W classics to the occasional Hollywood blockbuster (which usually disappoints.) I read everything from comics to SF and fantasy to classics and "literature".
I'm straightforward and have been a "mature" person since I was a tot, so I don't play games with my friends or people I date. I'm loyal and there for the people who depend on me.
I have three cats, and I feed (but not too much) a variety of wildlife in my backyard, as well as local feral kitties whom I hope to TNR this summer.
Humor is my life preserver, especially when the waves are rough and it's tough to swim. At my worst I'm a whimsical goofball.
Things that turn me off include naval oranges that have navals that look like real bellybuttons (they scare me), and the thought of toothpaste and orange juice flavored ice cream, which surely Ben and Jerry will make just as soon as they run out of other flavors. Otherwise I like oranges just fine and am also ecstatic that there is finally a (hopefully TRULY) fair trade banana on the market, since entire governments have fallen at the whim of the banana industry with the help of the U.S. military. Okay, that last bit sounds funny, but it's no joke. But enough about fruit already.

Oh, yeah: I drink occasionally and like wine, beer, and Islay Scotch. I love just about every kind of music, with special weaknesses for pop, jazz and folk.
