Why I'm Vegan
Hello to you from rural NW Ohio. I finally went all the way to Vegan in October of 2012: for the animals; for the Earth, for the air and water; for my own health and peace. My last "red meat" was in spring of 1975, near the end of my junior year of high school. Finally gave up fowl for good after Thanksgiving of 1998. During the preceding decades, I never had fowl at home - just when with friends and family, to "go with the flow" under society's run-of-the mill, horrific influence. Finally swore off cheese and very occasional fish and eggs in late 2012, committing to Veganism, and I feel essentially lighter now, finally at a place where I can honestly call myself a true "animal-lover." I've gotten more stubborn in my old age about just going along with mainstream society's routinely selfish, irresponsible, catastrophic, conveniently in-denial "mainstream" ways. While I'm discreet about it, I prefer to avoid eating with meat-eaters and other non-Vegans whenever possible. Not only does it disgust and anger me increasingly, but it also makes me feel like an accomplice. Of all the things about life on this planet, humanity's exploitation, abuse and even torture of other species is what most upsets, angers and saddens me. It would be nice to find a woman who'd actually be a good influence on me for a change, helping me to celebrate a committed, animal- and Earth-loving Vegan life of integrity. Hell, I've never even had a girlfriend who was vegetarian, but I've come to recognize that dating non-Vegans is just too problematic and friction-causing - I'm holding out for an animal-adoring, Earth-worshipping, tree-hugging mate who shares my core values.
More About Me
I seek a smart, childless, Vegan woman for Skype video-conversation and, hopefully, eventually, to meet in person. Me? After 22 years of teaching lots of Spanish and a little French, I'm an Ohio Supreme Court-certified Spanish-interpreter and interpreter-trainer. I walked well over 5,000 miles just to the university and back during my last fourteen years of teaching here in NW Ohio. I use no airconditioning, clothes-dryer, gas mower, cell-phone, microwave or garbage disposal. I've composted for over 23 years now here at my humble hermit's hovel and animal-sanctuary. I consume little, thriving on a simple, peaceful lifestyle, complete with Veganism, gardening, lots of international/multilingual news, sky-watching, bread-baking and beer-brewing. (I've been a news-junkie since the 80s, when my years in military intelligence left me addicted to knowing something about what the Hell's going on. Survived 317 parachute-jumps on three continents back in those days.) Also enjoy maintaining an old foreign car and motorcycle, feeding and watering yard-birds daily, spoiling my rescued dogs and cats, and spending quality time with a very small number of friends. I'm healthy as a Shetland pony. At 5'8", I weigh exactly what I did when I graduated from university in 1979, 134 pounds. Blood pressure: 100/60; total cholesterol: 165. No meds other than some aspirin every day. If you know the Briggs-Meyers scale, I'm an INFJ (more introverted than extroverted; more intuitive than sensing; (supposedly) more feeling than thinking; more judging than perceiving). I adore this stunningly beautiful planet and every non-human species that inhabits it (the species that humans haven't driven to extinction yet, at least), but I am a misanthropic antinatalist who considers our species to be a terminally self-obsessed, all-around, Earth-raping, animal-torturing disaster. I suppose I'm a Pagan, because it's the animals, Earth, Water, Air, and forests that I really worship. To be brutally honest, I don't have much respect for the "mainstream" religions - I've studied too much history and am too keen a watcher of current events! It would be an uphill struggle to try to have a balanced, respectful relationship with a woman who considers herself a "Christian" (of any type except possibly Gnostic), Jew, or Moslem, just as it would be hard for me to have a serious, long-term relationship with a woman who actually believes in the Tooth Fairy, Santa Claus or even (my favorite!) the Easter Bunny.
I'm Looking For
I quest for a potential mate with: a healthy, vegan life of low-consumption and attractive fitness; a quiet, balanced, fun, productive, organized, child-free lifestyle; a bright, reasonable, well-informed intellect... a foreign language or two would also be nice. I'd like to meet a smart, animal-loving, unusual, attractive, emotionally stable, progressive, reliable, childless woman of depth with time and space in her life for another close friendship and possibly even a love relationship. Hey: I prefer not to eat with meat-eating friends and relatives, though I take pains to be discreet and non-confrontational about preferring a cruelty- and violence-free table! Also, it embarrasses me to be out in public with loud, provocative people who seem to demand the attention of every stranger within a fifty-foot radius; I like a low, quiet public profile, myself. Of course, my simple, low-consumption lifestyle would be intolerable to most mainstream female American "consumers," but I know there must be a few out there who share my desire to live humbly, responsibly and lovingly on this poor, poisoned planet.
