Hi,
My name is Greg. I'm obviously an animal lover, but I also care about all living things and the environment as well. The dog in my picture is one of my Newfoundlands. Her name is Abbie. I live on 10 acres of beautiful forest that I just bought where I'm building a house and guest house and I'm really excited to be able to live somewhere so peaceful and beautiful. I do remodeling for a living and work on a lot of historic homes. I graduated from Ohio State with a degree in soils and water conservation. I'm really healthy and always have been(knock on wood), I'm 99.9% vegan and working towards 100%. I like to do all kinds of things. I play music and sing and I'm starting a new band with a friend of mine, like going to old bookstores, swimming with my dogs, having potluck/music get togethers, cross country skiing, gardening, cooking, working on the house and property,talking with my friends and family. I'd have to say that the aquisition of wealth is not the driving force in my life. I'd rather spend my life doing something that for me, is more worthwhile. First, I want to fall in love and have a life filled with happiness, romance, laughing( I'm a bit goofy), comforting, sharing, adventure, and love. I'd like to see someone within driving distance but if we feel it's right, I'm open to a temporary long distance relationship too.

Music: I like a lot of 90's punk and alternative, early indie bands and independent hip hop artists. Black Keys, Jack White, The kills, The Devil Makes Three, Blueprint, Queens of the Stone Age, and my all time favorite is early Sonic Youth. I have not been exploring new bands as much as I would like, but do enjoy all kinds of music. I also enjoy going to see bands play live and have never had a bad time at a any type of music festival.
Food: I enjoy good food and have been a vegetarian for 15 years. I mostly eat healthy but also appreciate a good pizza and beer.
Things I think a lot about: Hiking, walking my dog, being paranoid that I am not walking my dog enough, wondering why I don't make my own beer, taking more yoga classes, looking at art and the world around me, finding interesting or unusual antiques, wishing I knew how to make cool furniture or build things out of metal.

I am a teacher at a large midwestern university. I have done this for 15 years and love it. A few years ago I bought a house in the university district so I can walk/bike to work. I have 2 cats whom I love dearly and I can honestly say are a big part of my life, which I always used to think was an unusual thing for a straight guy. Ha!
When I moved into my house, the first thing I did was rip out my backyard and convert the entire thing to a garden. I grow a lot of my own food, and even can some of it at the end of the season. I do all my shopping at the community market a few blocks from here and since I don't smoke, drink, drive, or eat meat, I like to spend as much money as possible on good food.
When I'm not teaching, I travel quite frequently. Last year I was in Asia, Europe, S.America, and Africa. Every time I have a break between quarters, I try to leave the country. I love traveling in the US too though and still haven't been to Alaska and Hawaii so I gotta go there, and I'd be happy to go back to any of the other 48 states again... :]

I find ways to be outdoors when possible. Mountain bike,cycling,soccer& hiking tennis... The gym-but not in a religious way, exercise can be anywhere... Fairly health conscious about food I prepare a lot of vegetables and steer clear of processed foods, drink green tea or loose leaf herbal tea a couple times a day; Make miso soup; Very keen on Thai,Italian, or Sushi when possible. I run my own business. Making money's important, but not an end in itself. You've got to make time and friends to spend it with! A lot of my friends would probably describe me as their best friend. I read fiction constantly. The New York Review of Books, the New Yorker magazine are staples...Books on ancient history, art, foreign policy, food.... I rarely watch tv-I'll try to catch English premier league soccer matchs early on saturday or sunday morns before 12 sometimes at an Irish Pub. I play indoor/outdoor soccer, and visit libraries, book stores, galleries, and coffee shops often. Although the weather's been turning worse I have been able to do some longer cycling rides in the Hocking Hills lately... I'm on a quest. To learn, share & enjoy, simply...-The complexities,irony, synchronicity,and mysteries even rainy, gray Ohio winters days present...
I studied European history & English lit in college, traveled widely in Europe but chose not to be an academician. I've lived in east coast US cities, moved back to Ohio a few years ago and really enjoy the Columbus area. Lots of good family and friends here... Life is to meet new people, go new places, and take on new things projects large and small. Sharing food & wine, tea and jokes and always- Laughter - a key ingredient.
In all earnestness,laughter is elemental. Silliness, sarcasm, caustic wit, and profane mirth are the lighter moments of having a good relationship. Running jokes not at the expense of practicality, but in concert with. Humor abounds everywhere if you've an eye or ear for it. Wit & wine help too! So with that said; Let's- (in the words of Irish relatives)- 'have a laugh' I think we should!

I am an avid learner and a regular guest at the library both for books and movies. I have an eclectic music taste and enjoy finding groups of like minded individuals to attend events, concerts, documentary showings and discussion groups. I love stretching the boundaries of my mind and my beliefs and investigating new topics. I have one nearly middle school aged child living at home and 2 dogs. I have been vegetarian for the last 11 years and have been eating/living as vegan as I can for the last maybe 4-5 years. I work in the natural health field and have a great interest in health and music and the ways they overlap. I enjoy playing drums and am particularly fascinated with the way that vibration affects things. I love music that has a good groove to it. Last year I began organic home gardening and find it really fun and rewarding. I keep rather busy, though I am ready to free up some room for new things.
