I have a lot of creative and artistic traits, but I'm also athletic and love playing sports. That might not sound so strange, but I don't know a lot of people who are equally passionate about being both physically active and artistic. I can be completely serious one minute and a complete goofball the next. As an INFJ, I have the rarest of all the Myers-Brigss personality types (we make up less than 1% of the population). I think people have a hard time knowing what to make of me sometimes...
I'm a writer, a musician, and a photographer. A runner, a bike commuter, and an eco-friendly hippie who doesn't look or smell anything like a hippie. I'm a well-informed, socially-conscious, open-minded free thinker who reads like an open book. I am an honest, sincere, and open person. For better or worse, I don't know how to be anything other than myself.
I just finished my undergrad in Colorado when I was 29 and moved to the Pacific Northwest in August 2012. Obviously, I was a "non-traditional" student. I got a late start because when I was younger, I thought that I was going to work in the music industry in some capacity. I considered going to recording engineering school and luthier's school (to build guitars) while playing music in a little garage band, but I eventually decided that getting a degree was the best option for me. Now, I have a great job working for a vegan company.
I LOVE music (especially indie folk/rock). I know that everyone says they love music, but it truly is my greatest passion. I have a HUGE and ever-expanding music collection, and I always get excited about sharing my favorite music with willing victims. I make great mixtapes. Err... CDs. One of my favorite things to do is go to shows at smaller, more intimate venues. I like to play mellow, finger-picked instrumental songs on my acoustic guitar. My main instruments are guitar and bass, but I'm also learning to play didjeridu and mandolin. I'm always trying to get better at photography, too. I tend to be drawn to creative people and love talking about music and their other artistic passions with them.
I love cerebral independent/foreign films, documentaries, and silly/intelligent comedies. I enjoy red wine and good beer, but it's pretty rare for me to have more than 1-2 at a time. I can't stand bars unless I'm there to see a band or comedian.
I'm an aspiring world traveler. Life is short, and I want to see as much of the world as I possibly can! It's so damn expensive, though.

I spend a lot of time outdoors. I kayak, hike, bike, birdwatch, and love meeting all my wild neighbors. The year before Covid I also started taking surfing lessons.
I write and advocate for causes I care about and have had some successes. The circus no longer comes to my town, there's a beautiful preserved forest that does NOT have a cell phone tower, there's a large city park where ALL smoking is banned.....
My favorite issues are environmental, animal rights, and those concerning poverty and human rights. I think in another life I must have been a peasant in a peasant uprising.
This might seem odd but for fun I collect trash. My kayak often looks more like a garbage scow as I gather plastics and other trash while kayaking on the river and at the beach. I mostly just find trash but I've found some interesting stuff too, including something the bomb squad had to blow up on the spot. I'm still waiting to find either a briefcase full of half a million dollars of drug money no one claims or a chest of pirate's treasure sticking half out of a sandbar.
I love gardening... for wildlife, for food, for beauty, organically, and with native plants.
I enjoy a variety of things and am always eager to learn new ones. I'm open to suggestions.....

I'm a digital nomad (for lack of a better term) with a transient, minimalist lifestyle. I'm not opposed to settling down somewhere for the right person if visa runs are viable; I did this in Taiwan for years.
I've been self-employed since the age of 20 and have lived abroad since 2016. Originally from the USA, though I have no intention to live there again. To stay active, I particularly enjoy cycling and exploring on foot, as well as occasional hiking. At home I'm content with films/series, reading, and gaming. When I'm in a new city, I always like to check out the museums/galleries, parks, and botanic garden (if there is one), usually with camera in hand. I used to sell photos for a living, and photography remains a leisure hobby.

truthfully:I have spent most of my previous life trying to fit in to a society that often does not truly understand me or my motivations. I became widowed and retired at about the same time. I really did not have a plan or thought about this circumstance I find myself in. I have avoided eating animals for going on 15 years now. When I considered meeting new people, I found that I am not interested in building new friendships or bonding with people that do not share my thoughts and beliefs about plant-based eating. I am nearly 70, so why waste the effort. I have old friends who just think I'm weird, and have known me long enough to be accepting of my quirks, being vegan is just another one. When I thought about dating again, I decided they must be plant-based, vegan or vegetarian. My sweet wife was all of those at different times. I also wish to only date other widowed people, so it seems like I am asking for a lot. "Well, who doesn't harbour a Hallmark Christmas dream of a Winter Solstice lantern parade to end 2025 with!"
