| I've been completely vegetarian since 1993 mostly for ethical reasons. However if I had known the true environmental and health degradation associated with meat production back then, either would have been reason enough for me to go veggie even without the ethical reasons. |
| More About Me |
| I feel lucky to have a job that I can both make a difference for the planet and pay the bills. I'm an engineer working with architects to design building systems. I enjoy cycling, swimming, and the occasional trip into the backcountry (backpacking, snow camping). I just purchased a SUP in 2021 and looking forward to learning to use it, probably on Lake Natoma. I’m always eager to learn new adventures or absorb more knowledge from friends, lectures, and/or books on a variety of subjects but I never seem to have the time to take as many classes or read as many books as I’d like to. I used to volunteer at a local animal shelter and although I never did adopt out my last two foster cats, it was very rewarding and I look forward to having the time someday to do it again. I love growing, picking, and then eating my own organic veggies from the backyard. I enjoy nights on the town seeing a live band in a small venue, a small outdoor bar/cafe, a nice restaurant, the theater, or with the right company just hanging and doing nothing. I listen to a wide range of music but lately, I've been into the surf/skate/punk genre (Bad Religion, Dirty Heads, Rebelution, Iration, Green Day, Pennywise, Sublime). I also occasionally relax to oldies like my 80s 0r 70s Rock/pop pandora stations. I watch very little TV these days except for movies and The Daily Show. |
| I'm Looking For |
| My ideal match would be someone who loves animals, who is sincere, honest, and physically active. She would enjoy discussing politics, the environment, and animal/human rights, and other important social issues but have the balance to be capable of tuning out the world, at least for a few hours while we curl up on the couch watching a movie or some other selfish indulgence. She would not be afraid to discuss her true thoughts when asked (blunt honesty is appreciated). She would also enjoy taking trips (sometimes on short notice) and sharing some of my outdoor activities. Hopefully, she will want to introduce me to some of her own activities as I’m always looking to try new activities. This is by no means a shopping list of must-haves but rather a list of personality traits that for one reason or another seem to catch and maintain my interest. In short, I'm a sucker for women who are strong and confident but with a soft, vulnerable, caring side. Women who are apathetic, indifferent to the suffering of others, are professional “couch potatoes”, or are just plain mean need not apply. |
