| Why I'm Vegan |
| I'm vegan for ethical reasons, I became a well-meaning but naive and unhealthy vegetarian at age 15 (due to both the popularity of hunting in my family and some very graphic ads for leather-free skateboarding shoes). For five years I had a bad diet of mostly dairy products, buying into the myth that I needed tons of protein (and not knowing how dairy products come to market). I became vegan at age 20 after reading Diet For a New America and meeting up with some activists while in college in Minneapolis. Because I became vegan while living in a big city I learned to like all kinds of new foods, (mostly ethnic, like Vietnamese, Middle Eastern, Indian, Ethiopian, Thai, Spanish, Caribbean, etc.), and have never looked back. |

| I'm a graphic designer, which means I spend more hours than I would like to in front of a computer. I'm very into gardening and edible landscaping and my goal is to be living off-the-grid within the next few years. I love to travel and take lots of photos to document my travels. I am also very into scooters and riding my bicycle, I was car-free for 9 years but that just changed when I moved back to my small hometown, because the winter roads here are not 2-wheeler-friendly. :( I am an only child, my family is scattered but mostly in Michigan, Chicago and South Dakota. I share my home with two awesome adopted cats. I really like good scents and have lot of fragrances around the house. I enjoy cooking and have been baking a lot of cookies lately. I don't smoke, drink or do drugs, and never have. I listen to lots of different music, I probably have a more eclectic and varied music library than most, with lots of classic country, punk, hip-hop, alt-country, zydeco, foreign music, dub, blues and much more. I love films, especially documentaries and foreign. I spent a semester in Japan during college and speak conversational Japanese, though I rarely get to use it in recent years. I am in good shape physically and am interested in fitness, though I'm not fanatical about it. I loathe chain stores, franchises and malls. I love pine woods and the outdoors. I am soft-spoken and quite sarcastic. I am liberal in my politics. |
| I'm Looking For |
| The qualities I like most in a woman are being veg*n (should be a given with this site, hooray for that), down to earth and low maintenance, not too much of a boozer or smoker, in decent shape physically and mentally, witty, likes some of the things I like, enjoys nature, cares deeply about the environment, etc. Superficially I like dark hair and girls with a somewhat edgy look, though those aren't requirements. I admire those who ride bicycles and who go beyond their diet with regard to reducing their impact on the world. |
