| More About Me |
| I'm native to the Gulf Coast, descended from upstate farmers who called vegetables "what food eats". I still have some of the farm, now growing pines, hardwoods and wildlife. I am a Southern Baptist refugee, Buddhist after Episcopal experience, and won't argue or disrespect anyone's (non-violent) beliefs. I was introduced to Zazen meditation by a Jesuit priest, and have practiced for years. I have long pondered philosophical questions (still do), and intend to continue my quest to be confused at a higher level (or maybe lower?). I went to college for engineering, worked with computers in many industries and several countries, and have traveled for work, fun and romance. I am staff for a cat. I enjoy communing with nature and trying to cultivate my homestead. I was married (long time), divorced, survived and rebuilt life after Hurricane Katrina, and last year lost my long-time partner to Alzheimer’s (we had met here in 2011). I learned some hard lessons (see disasters, above...). I like to read, fly, practice yoga and meditation, drink coffee and converse, travel, and learn. I like museums, art, architecture, history, music, and theater. I enjoy discovering cultural differences (and similarities). I enjoy spending time with family (reduced to two brothers and sisters-in-law and one nephew) and friends. |
