| Why I'm Vegan |
| I have to admit, up until 5 years ago I was a sucker for a good steak (would love to say I've been a vegetarian since birth but honesty is the best policy), but something changed and my life began to head in a new, more 'compassionate' direction. And now, the challenge begins all over again as I attempt a 'promotion' to vegan status. Researching about dairy and egg farming made me realise that becoming vegan is the right thing to do, and has all the same ethical values that I believed in as a vegetarian, so it's just the natural progression I guess. Now all I need to do is get Ben and Jerry's to make a soya ice-cream and i'll be sorted! I firmly believe that it is not our given right to eat meat, nor do we need to in order to be healthy. There are so many options available today that eating meat is now a choice not a necessity. Plus, in an era of worrying climate issues, we are cutting down huge quantities of rainforest in order to graze animals for the human populations demand on meat. You could feed a lot more people, with a lot less space, if we were growing crops and not meat. |

| Q: 'Why did the tofu cross the road?' A: 'To prove it wasn't a chicken' Always good to start with a little 'ice-breaker' joke, albeit a very cheesy and dubious one! I'm an actor by profession, and a 'resting' one at the minute, which is a posh way of saying I can't find any work. Am currently living in India, working as a primate carer at a monkey sanctuary. So far from the world of the stage, but I'm a very spontaneous person and tend to do things on gut instinct, and worry about the consequences after. I try to live my life with a 'yin and yang' attitude. I enjoy yoga, meditation, kayaking, travelling, cooking, philosophy as well as some sports and the occasional game of poker. I also play the guitar...badly, but as they say 'it's the taking part that counts'. |
