Why I'm Vegetarian
I don't eat animals and they don't eat me. It is a way of life but I'm beginning to get more concerned with bio-engineered vegetables than anything else. Why couldn't we just eat the spotted apples. I remember when you'd bite into a Macintosh apple and it would turn brown immediately. They tasted so good and the pies were incredible. Now you could leave it on the counter next to a twinkie and the twinkie would wither sooner. lol. I'm leanin' vegan .... vegan at home, now, but I live in a small town where the options are slim so I may overlook the cheese once out at a restaurant, but the mistreatment of animals in the food industry is just so sickening to me that it has made me very angry. I grew up around small farms where the people were compassionate towards their animals. The chickens were free range and fed corn from the farm, so though I hated the idea of someone killing an animal for food ... the use of eggs didn't bother me if bought from free range/organic sites ... but that has changed now too as the reports of cruelty continue to pour out. We have become even sicker than our ancestors as farming becomes nothing but looking at the profit rather than being proud of what we produce. I took the following from another profile ... but it holds so true for me: although I support vegetarianism, etc. I am not militant and my ideal partner would not be either. If you lecture or put down others who don't see things your way (vegetarian or other life issues) your match is someone else :-)
More About Me
I'm pretty easy going. Live on 68 acres of land in a house that was built in 1833. Still working on remodeling ... but close to done. Love to go 4 wheeling ... hiking in the woods, a trip to Paris or NYC would be nice. I love to go out and listen to bands but not really into the bar thing. I play keyboards and guitar and you can hear a few of my songs at my space slash smileyvegetarian. I do trainings at a local hospital, along with schema therapy sessions and a beginning Yoga class. I also do seminars at the community college and at businesses around the area.
I'm Looking For
There is no outline. There is no walking through the store and pick one with this that or whatever. It's the person that needs to shine ... not the packaging. Yes I would love to be with someone who is fit, weighs less than me and who doesn't wear clothes that will melt next to a fire. Yes, I want to reach out and touch her face, kiss her once, thumb along her chin, hand along her face, kiss the back of her neck, feel her pull my shirt up tight in her hand, mouth hung open, tongue sliding along her lips. Believing that everything happens in the future and that, this moment is just foreplay for what might be able to be. I don't like to look too far to the future, but I do like to respect it. So I hold back, sometimes, to save someone else pain ... to save myself pain. Knowing it's the right thing for that moment, in the time I'm experiencing it. But, perhaps, even though it appears that we may be joined by the same ticking, that our realities of time are totally different. I would think that someone lost in the dark ... well, their clock would tick differently than someone on death row, than someone embraced in a kiss, than someone undergoing surgery, than a child at play. And perhaps your clock is ticking so much faster than my heart is beating ... or maybe I slowed my heart to let you tick ahead. I don't know. I may never know. I may never be granted the chance. I can only hope. I don't like roller-coasters. I don't like being in control. I'd much rather float ... like in those dreams where you know you can fly and you're swimming on air. You can't get more than a few feet above the ground, but the feeling is so real. So free ... and no one will believe you. My gut says to run ... but my heart says that there is a better understanding, in the future. But though I respect it ... I think we all try to rush it, sometimes. Better to enjoy here and now and taste the anticipation. The light possibility. That which will reveal itself, or not, as it chooses. I do like reassurance. A nod of the head. A wink of an eye. A whisper that gives the hint that love could be there. Just the faintest whisper that, hopefully, will come around again. Gently to my ear ... not flying in and around my head.
