| Why I'm Vegan |
| It all started in the early 1970s with my concern and horror over the killing of hundreds of thousands of dolphins by tuna fleets. My compassion for animals coupled with my horror (yes, that word again!) at how they were treated for eventual human consumption led me to become a lacto-ova vegetarian and then nine years later after seeing The Animals Film I became a vegan. That was 27 years ago. No regrets. |

| I am kind, irreverent, funny, atypical, and constantly in awe. I passionately love the outdoors, particularly the wilderness. Am a world traveler with a particular interest in Asia (Nepal, Tibet, India, Indonesia) though no exotic far flung trips for awhile and nothing imminent - well I did just return from India but that was work related. I play mandolin (traditional Irish, old-timey, bluegrass, folk, blues, improv) guitar (classic rock, blues, improv), a bit of Irish bouzouki, tenor banjo, and the (once upon a time) sitar (pseudo Hindustani Indian classical), tiny bit of gamelan (pseudo Balinese/Javanese) all the above with varying degrees of some modicum of competence or lack thereof ....). Love film, art, photography, music, reading, snuggling, bicycling, always looking for a kayaking partner?!?!. A long-time history of political/environmental/peace/social justice activism. Am kind, compassionate, open-minded, respectful, strong-willed (stubborn?) but accommodating, communicative (most times), funny, playful, irreverent, honest with integrity, affectionate and comfortable with intimacy. For me nothing is more spiritual than being out in the wilds of nature, backpacking or hiking in the mountains, the canyons of the Southwest, along the ocean, strolling in old growth forests, frolicking in the Himalayas. I'm a long-time vegetarian and vegan. Long hair, short beard. Oh, and even though I am 5'7" - in your imagination I am much, much taller! |

| I should mention that I am rarely on this site and just discovered a mistake in my preferences that said I was only interested in someone with an advanced degree. That is incorrect and I have fixed that. Sorry for confusion. Also the photos are now kind of old but I look the same, just grayer. I am looking for a lover/partner (strongly prefer serious relationship, but intimate, or other friendship is also appealing - have to keep one's options open in this day and age) who is kind and compassionate, respectful and supportive of cultural and biological diversity, tolerant of differences in individual people, intellectually curious, creative, sensual, soft yet strong in herself, passionate about life, adventurous, a great sense of, and appreciation of humor, politically progressive and aware, socially engaged, concerned about our fragile planet, etc. You might or might not have children, but you would love children, hopefully. (I don't have any but there are some that are very important in my life.) Someone who makes me smile and laugh a lot. Obviously love would play a large role. One where mutual respect, communication and honesty are at the core. Shared interests, especially our world views should be somewhat in sync. Reciprocal desire for personal growth that includes learning from one another. Humor would have a large, essential presence. True enjoyment of one another. Mutual admiration. A sense that life, and this relationship, is an adventure, at times presenting challenges that we may not be quite fully prepared, but having the resolve to forge ahead into new discoveries about ourselves and our world. Lots of cuddling, pawing, kissing, love making, laughing (all consensual of course!). |
