Why I'm Vegetarian
In the late Eighties, a featured article in the L.A. Times came to my attention in which a meat inspector was being interviewed about the industry. He explained the disgusted conditions that he would regularly encounter in slaughterhouses & meat processing facilities. He recounted being fired as a result of accurately reporting these violations (ie. doing his job with integrity). At the end of the article, he was asked what advice he would give to the public; his response was "not to eat meat." I was convinced! That was that day I decided to give up consuming animals, which I was raised on. I still have that article to this day. Since then, my reasons have expanded beyond the "disgusting factor" to environmental, health, animal welfare, & human overpopulation issues.
More About Me
I am tall, brainy, eclectic, artistic, sensitive and intuitive. I believe I inherited my father's sense of humor. I can wear tye-dye yoga duds in the morning, then dress to the nines that night. I embody equal amounts of nerd & iconoclast, philosopher & spiritual seeker. I am intrigued by all things mystical, metaphysical, mysterious, otherworldly, & ancient. I thrive on putting my hands in the dirt & gardening Mother Nature's green earth. My two current passions are: 1) Building Biology, the study of non-toxic construction, interior design & architecture, air & water quality, and the dangers of EMFs (electro-magnetic fields caused by cell phones, WiFi routers, power lines, 5G towers, wiring errors, etc). I ultimately aim to be certified in this field as a potential new career. 2) Human Overpopulation (I founded & manage the FB page "Environmentalists against Human Overpopulation"). I plan to eventually write a book and podcast on this topic. More tidbits about me: - A substantial part of my life has been spent as a writer, journalist, public speaker, activist, & educator. - I have a B.A. in TV-Film Production & Media Communications. - I belong to Screen Actors Guild (as a hobby, not career) and am involved in occasional projects in that field. - I am well-studied in holistic health, nutrition, natural healing and the wide spectrum of ecological & animal/wildlife issues. - I have worked with numerous non-profit organizations--including starting one of my own--as both a volunteer and staff member. This included working to end vivisection, food irradiation & GMOs, advocating for organic agriculture & sustainable technologies, and rescuing a variety of critters. In the last few years, I have lost many dear friends & relatives, as well as experiencing other significant life changes. All this has put things into perspective and altered my life's priorities. I appreciate the small & simple things so much more now! The challenges have made me take a good look at myself, resulting in new decisions about who I want to be and where I am headed in life. I am fully aligned with my desire to attract a wonderful relationship and life partner! A few things that bring me happiness: Eating fruit & vegetables picked from my own garden... walking through an old growth redwood forest... sailboating across the wild blue sea... precious moments when I connect with my divine goddess self... snuggling with my beautiful cats. What brings YOU happiness? Let me know....
I'm Looking For
What is my perhaps unrealistic ideal? Well...I would love to cultivate a long-term romantic and spiritual partnership with a man who is enjoying his own personal journey of healing, creative manifestation, and self-empowerment. Blessed with both a high IQ and EQ, he is in touch with a higher calling or purpose here on planet Earth. As I believe our nation and our world are headed toward very challenging times, I envision joining with a life partner with whom I am in alignment in all the important categories, in order not just to share a life of mutual love and respect, but also to collaborate on issues of basic survival and civil liberties. I'd love my partner to embody maturity, integrity, and responsibility, seeking to be fully awake and aware. A good-hearted, compassionate, and patient soul, he is secure and confident enough to deal with a strong woman (me!) who is at times passionate and intense, yet also feminine, nurturing, sensitive, and childlike. Other qualities I value in a relationship: excellent communication skills, a desire to "work at" the relationship, loyalty, honesty, affection, optimism, a great sense of humor, a curious, inquisitive mind, adventure and play, social & political awareness (I am a patriot), and love-respect for both animals and nature. Any human--including the man I hope to meet--is multi-dimensional and multi-faceted in ways that can't be explained or anticipated...so the above-stated expectations of an ideal "Mr. Right" must be taken with a grain of salt. Every person and relationship is a mysterious, divine manifestation of spirit. Overall, I think chemistry and subconscious influences play as much a role in two people getting along (whether romantically or platonically) as anything else. And in the end, trying to figure out compatibility over the phone or by email is not going to work...so I have come to believe that it's really necessary to meet in person, earlier rather than later. Disclaimer: To be perfectly honest, apart from being vegetarian or vegan, I'd prefer to meet men who are monogamous, healthy and fit, not allergic to cats, are "unjabbed," nor infected with herpes or HIV. I hope you will be just as open with your needs and preferences, and I thank you in advance for sharing them with me!
