| I was horrified to learn as a child that eating meat meant eating animals. As soon as I learned there were people in the world called vegetarians, who lived just fine without eating animals, I knew I was one. I was 13 when I became vegetarian, and 26 when I went vegan. |

| My kindergarten teacher told my mother, "There are leaders and there are followers, and then there is your daughter, and she will go her own way." I'm the solo parent of a profoundly gifted 13 yr old, vegan for life. Tomboy/androgynous, passionate about social justice (Jew for a free Palestine) holistic health, and our suffering planet. I think and feel deeply, couldn't pull off light and bubbly if I tried. Hardworking, responsible, expressive, passionate, always honest, self-directed, accountable, engaged. Simultaneously non-materialistic and unenamoured with poverty, college educated with a working-class soul, a survivor who's overcome great adversity, transplanted to the Bay Area 34 yrs ago from the Bronx, NY. Not standard issue. I recently left an unfulfilling job of 11 yrs to make a long-desired career change. I've been a bookkeeper, social justice activist, environmentalist, massage therapist, public school teacher, health educator, non-profit worker. I recycle and freecycle every shred of everything, drive a biodiesel car, trap-neuter-release-feed-rescue the feral cats on my block, buy almost nothing new. I'm an anti-Zionist Jew who grew up in Black and Brown inner-city public schools, and identifies strongly w/struggles against racism and economic oppression. I'm a wanna make the world a better place type rabble-rouser. I'm old school in my ways; I choose to live w/o a 'smartphone, still read paper maps. I prefer real-time conversation to the superficiality of online chats. My child is multi-ethnic (African American/Native American/Jewish), and it is important in our lives that all of his roots are honored. Yo y mi hijo somos bilingues. |

| Seeking a fellow deep soul (either set of plumbing will do), vegan or almost so, who cherishes heartfelt communication, raising kids as consciously as possible, living with a light footprint, travel & quiet time at home, life outside the usual boxes, making the most of our limited time on a finite planet. You communicate deeply, honestly, openly. You've worked on yourself, are comfortable in your skin, able to work thru the bumps. Neither alcohol nor other mood-altering substances are regularly featured in your life. You show up fully for any children you've helped bring into the world and for those you love. I connect best with others who are politically left, passionate & expressive, unconventional in some way.I dig folks who are clear about who they are and what they want out of life. Drawn to creative types, activist types, unconventional, self-determined folks who walk their own path. I appreciate others with life experience under the belt, who have taken time for introspection, healing & personal growth. I don't care what you own; I care how you show up. Women ranging from "natural" to tomboy to butch, and men who are simultaneously masculine and feminist / unattached to traditional gender roles appeal to me. I resonate most with folks of color (having grown up in the Bronx in the 70s-80s). Open to a deep, loving, respectful, supportive, creative, playful connection.
