| Why I'm Vegetarian |
| I've been total vegetarian for more than 29 years; life member of The American Vegan Society and of The Vegetarian Society of Colorado: my raw-foods vegan diet is mostly a result of my attending their convention in Boulder, Colorado, in 1998, and of my hearing and reading the words of H. Jay Dinshah and several vegan physicians, authors, and scholars. I wish to contribute nothing to any animal industry. A central nervous system is clear proof to my mind that the creature in whom it lives can experience misery and feel pain; I want never to be a cause of pain, misery, suffering, or violence to anyone, but see indirect support of animal exploitation as inevitable. By my diet my conscience is much relieved, and my health much improved and preserved. I believe that almost all people who exercise often, and follow a wholesome lifestyle and vegan diet, without such additives as artificial colors, flavors, and preservatives, are least likely to contract such diseases as cancer, diabetes, and arteriosclerosis. I approve and accept every reason I've ever seen or heard for anyone's being vegan. I respect the rights and beliefs of others to live in ways they think right, and am adaptable to beliefs, desires, opinions, preferences, and lifestyles unlike my own. May kindness be with you always. |

| I love all animals, especially the black mamba, whose venom can kill a woman or man in 15 minutes, and the Great WhiteShark, the largest predatory fish, among whose favorite meals is the tender, succulent New Zealand fur seal. The tiger shark has a reputation as an indiscriminate eater that swallows anything it finds, even garbage, so that the tiger shark has acquired this nickname: wastebasket of the sea. "They don't know any better," says one objection, to which I answer, "That's one of the main reasons why I love them so dearly; I love subhuman intelligence, and all creatures who never talk to me." I wonder how vegetarians who express disapproval of exploitations of animals as food can have no scruple about exploiting them as pets. |

| I'm Looking For |
| Here I express ideals that I think desirable but unnecessary; I never impose on anyone a necessity or desire for conformity to any of them. And I expect of myself the same virtues, interests, and inclinations that I hope to find in her. I learn about and acquire interests of people I associate with, but I hope to find someone with whom I can establish a true, close, enduring friendship or marriage, especially a healthy and health-conscious nonreligious ethical vegan or total vegetarian who is interested more in a man's character and intellect than in his money or physical measurements; is a loyal open-minded woman polite and respectful in personal relations who neither expresses nor feels any schadenfreude, and is not authoritarian or vindictive, but a forward-looking optimistic egalitarian problem-solver who seeks things, actions, and qualities to approve, admire, and appreciate; who evinces many such virtues as patience, benevolence, empathy, compassion, temperance, and frugality, and has a tasteful sense of humor. May kindness be with us always. |
