Why I'm Vegetarian
I've been a vegetarian or a vegan since I was 18 years of age. The primary reasons for this were animal rights, and the poor state of the cattle/farming industries. I soon came to realise how healthy vegetarian/vegan food is, and it became a way of life. Over the years it has also come to feel that not ingesting other beings has spiritual significance for me too.
More About Me
Hello! Tricky as it is to capture oneself in a nutshell, here are a few things about me that I hope are somewhat illuminative: I am passionate by nature, and, given the limited time we have to tread these worldly boards, it feels important to spend time doing things that I enjoy and that are meaningful, so in work/play I aim at this. I am a traveller, and have been fortunate to explore much of this fair, if somewhat troubled, planet of ours. I also enjoy travelling whilst staying in the same place, and my work involves a good deal of this. In other words philosophy is important to me (as well as keeping it real). I make the best mojito I have ever tasted. Other than this I'm more of an all rounder. I am youthful in spirit, so if I am indeed 44, 'middle age' feels a good way off. I have a wild side that likes to come out now and then, on the town perhaps, or deep in the jungle. I also enjoy being calm. I'm drawn to artistic and creative pursuits, and though I enjoy a variety of media, music was my first love. My tastes are eclectic, and I enjoy putting on and DJing at parties from time to time. Mostly I am drawn to roots music - reggae, african, folk, blues and the like, but I also enjoy off key excursions into psychedelia, rock, electronica, jazz and beyond. Always interested to hear something new, to take in a gig or 2.
I'm Looking For
I learnt a while back that having too many preconceived ideas about who I’d like to meet gets in the way of a genuine encounter, so I have an open mind as to where I will find my soulmate. I imagine though that I would get along with someone who is open to and enjoys the variety of life, who likes to glam it up now and again, but who is happy to get muddy too, who never wants to lose the capacity to play, who likes to dance in the kitchen, and who believes in contributing to positive change, but in having fun whilst doing so. I've come to realise that having a vegan/vegetarian partner is important to me.
