| I'm trying to lead a relatively simple, uncluttered, rewarding life, with an emphasis on striving for personal growth, doing no harm, and making the world a better place. I've been an ethical vegan for 10 years now, and there's no turning back on that. It's the best decision I've ever made. I highly value compassion, honesty, integrity, and creativity. Things I particularly love include the outdoors, animals, and culture. I work for a large nonprofit dedicated to animal welfare. My job is fairly intense, and when I'm not working, I like to enjoy my time in the outdoors (hiking, cycling, watching birds, etc.) or watching films, listening to music, playing standards on my electric piano, or reading. I love to travel, too, (at least I did before the pandemic) and have been to Europe (many times), Costa Rica, Thailand, Japan, and Hawaii. I am not at all religious, but I have a longstanding interest in Buddhism as both philosophy and practice. One of my nephews recently wrote this to me: "Values really should drive our actions in life, and you have been far more active in implementing that philosophy than anyone else I have met." |
