| Why I'm Vegan |
| I started off as a vegetarian back in 2014 for health reasons. I entered an office biggest loser competition and completely changed my diet and exercise habits. My body felt amazing and I was performing way better with kickboxing and cardio. I followed several vegan blogs and learned more and more about where my food really came from. I was forced to confront my own assumptions and reconcile my feelings and values. In October 2015, I made the conscious decision to not participate in the systemic abuse, pain, suffering and death of any individual. |
| More About Me |
| As a brain cancer survivor, I've discovered through my recovery the overflowing abundance of compassion people have. From my medical team, to my family, friends, cohort, coworkers and passersby, there is so much capacity for positive regard. I learned more about myself and the need to step outside of my comfort zone to experience new opportunities and create novel stories (hence this dating profile). I was diagnosed and underwent treatment at the tail end of my master's in rehabilitation counseling which meant putting my studies, career and much of my life on hold. There was a lot of time for reflection, writing, fiddling around with the guitar and cooking. I can make a mean cashew cream of mushroom soup! I also built up a huge book collection thinking I'd read them eventually, but procrastination still gets the better of me. But I miraculously graduated on time and continue my work to close gaps in education and employment for people with disabilities. |
| I'm Looking For |
| I would ask for any prospective companion to be kind, understanding, warm, appreciative of music and the occasional fart joke (vegans are gassy!). Bonus points if you play or want to play an instrument and know or want to learn American Sign Language (my native language). But most of all, I just want to experience your stories. |
