| I’ve been a vegetarian since I was a kid (1987 - vegan came much later... about a decade ago or so). There were two reasons I initially stopped eating meat. It was so long ago that I can't remember which happened first but the two impetuses seemed to coalesce around the same time. I was always an animal lover and was very against hunting. I came to the realization that when I ate a burger or a supreme meat lovers pizza that I was not only being a hypocrite but actually doing something even worse than hunting. I felt that if an animal died just for me to eat meat that I should at the very least have to be the one to kill it myself and pay my respects to it, so to speak. I certainly didn't want to kill anything so I have not eaten meat since. The second factor was that, for the first time, I saw a documentary (most likely on PBS) about the horrors of factory farming. With those two things in mind, it was the easiest decision I have ever made. It was harder to decide if I should pluralize impetus.. as long as I don’t have to say it. |

| I'm a professional musician and audio engineer. For the past several years I’ve lived in the Blue Ridge Mountains in a fairly rural area (near Roanoke). I really enjoy being kind of out in the country having spent my entire life prior to this in large metropolitan areas. I grew up mostly in Houston and Dallas but couldn't wait to get out of East Texas. I feel like I somehow need to live near mountains. I lived in Southern California for the longest stretch of my adult life (LA and OC) but also spent a few years in the NYC area.
