Why I'm Vegan
I abhor the cruelty inflicted on any innocent being as every creature wants to live and nurture its young. I’ve been an animal lover since a child and it was my ambition since I was about 5 years old to be vegetarian as I hated eating meat and would stare in horror at the animal carcasses in butchers’ shops in the 50s and 60s. I vowed I’d do this as soon as I left home and my mother’s cooking! Initially it was a slow transition but the more I found out about farming methods the more I detested meat and after a visit to a local intensive pig farm in 1977 that was it! Much later our oldest daughter at 16 years old explained the hypocrisy of our family diet by eating dairy. We listened and as a family we gradually became vegan around 2004. I have never looked back and only regret not becoming vegan sooner.

More About Me
Since the sudden loss of my husband in 2005 I have been living on my own and keep very busy, as a recently retired teacher. I lived a very long time in the Scottish Borders and moved to Fife when I retired to be nearer my family yet near enough to Edinburgh for travel connections and meeting friends. I just love Edinburgh and my native Scotland and am trying to explore more of it! I am always happily busy with friends, family and my many walking groups. My three daughters and five grandchildren keep me busy, especially as I have one in Scotland, one in Canada and one in Gran Canaria. I fly out to see them on a fairly regular basis and love travel of any kind. My passion is really the great outdoors and nature and trying to look after it. I am a keen long distance and mountain walker and have many adventures arranged in the future and at the planning stage. I enjoy camping and wilderness adventures as well as being a novice bird watcher. I also love live music and am off to my first all weekend Rock festival this summer! As far as relationships go, I have had two quite serious, long term ones that ended amicably so have had a few years detox from them! However, I feel I am now open to meeting someone special who has mutual interests and outlook and may wish to share some of my adventures! My recent bout with covid did make me realise that although I am happy and very independent it can be lonely on your own at times. I feel that I am a positive thinking and easy going person.

I'm Looking For
This is a hard question as I am sure you know that special person when you meet and get to know them. So why am I signing up for online dating? I think initially I am looking for just finding someone who thinks I am special enough to spend time with and get to know. I have many friends but dating is another thing! I have secretly hoped I may meet someone the ‘proper way’ by a chance encounter or mutual friends, however that has not happened! So here goes. I’m looking for someone who enjoys long hill walks and nature and must be at least vegetarian. I just know that it would never work for me to date another man who munchies into pork pies or steaks. I have been there and won’t go back.
