I've been single for quite a while. My pets and my parent mean the most to me at present and I have a small circle of friends. I have finally admitted to myself that I do miss the Y chromosome and I have got room in my life for male company. I also suffered a severe talking-to recently from a friend who thinks I should stop being so lazy and DO something! I'm a fairly quiet person who definitely prefers country rambles to nightclubs. I'm not a girly girl. Pink isn't in my vocabulary, and tottering around in high heels is just not me. Neither is being a social butterfly. Broad taste in music - I pretty much like most things except modern jazz, opera, soul and rap, although there's always the odd exception that proves the rule. Big T.Rex fan and Apulanta fan (I'm also a Finnophile!), and the '70s & '90s would be my favourite musical decades. Strange how the pastime that's the 2nd most popular use of the internet doesn't appear on here: genealogy. I've been researching for 20 years - it keeps me out of mischief! I've found I'm distantly related to the singer, Sandie Shaw, the cricketer, Sir Jack Hobbs, the once world-famous Christian evangelist 'Gipsy' Rodney Smith, the children's author and broadcaster 'Romany of the BBC', the male half of the band Everything But the Girl, a Bishop of Sydney, Australia, one of the hanged Littleport Rioters and a two-time Mayor of Dover! Other interests also not included in the lists on here are dog-training, dog-walking and learning Finnish, Danish and Italian.

I grew up on a dairy farm, went strict veg at 16 and vegan at 18 in a rodeo town in texas it made me fairly militant regarding animal rights, enviromental and anti racist activism ( think early antifa). trained as a chef sign language interpreter and diesel mechanic. I had a 5 star vegan restaurant for a minute during the greenscare, cooked in others since. im proud of my activist victories and dont plan to stop fighting. in a nut shell I'm a single former vegan chef, volunteer fire fighter, rescue diver, and long-term activist, now working in a more blue collar field who likes the outdoors more than friend , helping others & seeks a Vegan to be the buttercup to a blue eyed blonde haired farmboy ,( ok once blonde but now blue eyed bald and grey)im seeking an independent person who knows their mind and self. who could enjoy moonlight dances under the stars, star gazing among the firefly, old movie nights and someone who wishes to join him in a happily ever.

While in college fell in love with a vibrant Hong Kong girl, we got married and settled in this country. We had mostly a good life, I retired in 2017 but continued working as a part time consulting engineer till I was diagnosed with cancer in April 2022. About the same time wife was operated for Meningioma brain tumor that usually are benign. But her turned out to be rare aggressive type that took her away December 2024. I was lucky as an experimental immunotherapy treatment worked for me, now in remission June 2022. Now my day job is web design. My nighttime passion is dancing. I devote much of my free time in dance practice as a competitive ballroom dancer I compete currently at the championship level throughout the US. Jewish ideals inform and guide in all aspects of life. These include honesty; respect for the sanctity of all life, which includes being veg*n; not hurting people's feelings or saying negative things about them; giving others the benefit of the doubt and the opportunity to do the right thing; concern for the vulnerable and the disabled; having a higher purpose in life, including work; and learning for the sake of learning, including from everyone! But people with similar values come from many paths in life, the ultimate expression of which is being a mensch or, as Confucius termed it, a jūnzǐ (君子), someone who sets an example through his or her actions, which speak louder than words. Enjoy hiking, being in nature, lizard-watching, learning, artistic creativity, and dry humor (but not sarcasm). Introverted and sometimes lost in thought, but hopefully thoughtful in more ways than one! Look for ways to help others while avoiding self-serving feelings like validation and pride. Empathetic to the point that it can sometimes cause distress. Adventurous but also risk-averse.
I live in the desert, which, it has been said, teaches humility, not only because we are dwarfed by the majestic mountains and the expansive valleys but also because we are humbled by the miraculous, mind-blowing adaptations that allow life in all its forms to not merely survive but thrive in the most challenging of environments. Nature can be our teacher and help us improve our character traits.
Having stopped practicing clinical medicine almost 30 years ago when it was no longer possible to do so ethically in the current environment, I've written extensively about the depraved medical system in which those who are in it shouldn't be and those who should be aren't, and about how it should be.

Hobbies include daily exercise (with full body resistance training every other day), consuming content from NPR (especially via KQED Radio) and the PBS Newshour, and pursuing opportunities to help better myself or support the world around me :). Other than that, though, I'm very open to new experiences or activities, too.
Native English speaker and somewhat proficient in Spanish. I'm always up for learning more languages, especially if it helps me communicate with you or your loved ones better.
I was formerly pre-health (medical/dental) and then switched to project management because it has allowed me to continue working with and spending time with my family.
Twenty years from now, when those family opportunities are less prevalent, I'll probably look to go back to school (ideally to study something to help reduce animal and/or environmental exploitation, although hopefully humans are no longer doing that 20 years from now :p) or look into more lucrative professional options (and donate any earnings beyond what I would hope to remain a fairly frugal lifestyle to high-impact charities promoting animal welfare.)
Those plans are definitely flexible, however, especially if that flexibility would help me to better support the happiness of a wonderful vegan partner :)

I like to be active and keep in decent shape; not buff, but not pudgy either… kind of a happy medium! I like to do things outdoors and be active, but I have to admit I can Netflix Binge with the best of them, or spend an entire day moving from couch, to chair, to lawn chair, to bed, and back to the couch reading good a book. I’m pretty middle of the road politically. I used to lean more to the right, but now lean more to the left. I strongly believe in doing what we can to minimize climate change. I spend most of my time in El Paso where i work, but also own a home in Albuquerque where my two of my children live. I visit them every few months. I also have a daughter in Minneapolis and a son in Virginia Beach who I visit once or twice a year. I would love to travel more but work gets in the way. My ‘plan’ is to cut back to 20 hrs/week at age 62 and I’m on track to meet that goal. I’m excited and apprehensive about it at the same time. I sooo want to work less, but I sooo sooo don’t want to be bored. I think going part-time will be a good stepping stone for me, and will give me more time to travel. In the meantime, I’m just enjoying my job and interacting with my clients and co-workers and visiting my kiddos when I can.

I live and work near Carson City Nevada. Its normally a desert like climate, hot and dry. It’s near the Sierra Mountains, though, so we get winter weather, rain and snow. Lake Tahoe is about an hour away so we also get the tourists and crowds and traffic that go along with that. The ski resorts, such as Squaw Valley, draw the same in the winter months.
I’m drive truck for a construction company to pay my bills and keep me and my little black cat, Babushka, in kibble. I rent my small, one bedroom cabin, from my sister. She lives next door and we help one another out in various ways, such as taking turns pushing the trash bin to the curb for pickup.
I’m live a mostly vegan lifestyle. Which makes me a bit different than most around here. I don’t attend events which exploit animals. I don’t go to circuses, rodeos, Sea World, chili cook-offs, traditional barbecues, horse races, animal exhibits, you get the idea. I’ll add more to this later.

Music is important in my life - rarely a day goes by when I don't listen to music of one kind or another - from rock to classical - feel blessed to have grown up in the Beatles era. I love to dance to uplifting stuff ( eg 'The Gypsy Kings ) ,but I love beautiful classical music - my favourite piece is Camille Saint-Saens piano concerto No.2 in G minor - sometimes majestic, sometimes playful ( as in the 2nd movement) ! I had piano lessons as a child and reached a pretty good standard - then 'life' took over , though I'm determined to start playing again.
