Humor is so important because it engenders and represents hope, something we all need. And no one has ever died of laughter. Is that what's meant by "humoral immunity"? ;)
Strive to live a simple, nonmaterialistic, meaningful, and purposeful life. I'm a Luddite at heart, reminiscing about the halcyon days when we weren't overdependent on technology. I embrace sechel, not artificial intelligence, and modesty, not social media. 不患莫己知，求为可知也。"Don't fret about not being well-known; instead, strive to be worthy of being known" (Analects, book 4, verse 14). Jewish ideals inform and guide in all aspects of life. These include honesty and evenhandedness, including not saying anything essentially true but meant to mislead (as in PR/marketing/media); not hurting people's feelings or saying negative things about them; giving others the benefit of the doubt and the opportunity to do the right thing; having a higher purpose in life, including work; and learning for the sake of learning, including from everyone! Enjoy hiking, being in nature, lizard-watching, learning, artistic creativity, and dry and waggish humor (but not sarcasm). My sadness hasn't diminished even a single day.
But the times of sadness have gradually decreased.
Most of us have feelings.
When we're sad, we don't need to resist it,
But rather understand why we're sad.
This experience of losing a dear friend
Has made me feel immense regret for his short life!
Because he was such a kind person!
Many say that for every effect, there's a cause.
Perhaps his early passing was due to this causal relationship.
I understand very well how the law of attraction works.
When you're happy,
The vibration you emit attracts things related to happiness.
When you're sad, you attract similar things that make you sad.
When you're angry, you attract similar things that make you angry.
... and so on.
So, to have a fulfilling life, the vibration you emit is crucial!
You can be sad, but don't let it persist for too long.
Learn how to transform sadness into strength.
When you're feeling down, realize that
Most people don't know how to control their emotions.
If you could handle it with a relaxed attitude, they wouldn't affect you.
Impermanence is a normal part of life; there's no need to lament it.
The important thing is to accept impermanence and strive to do what you love.
It will make you want to live a more meaningful, fulfilling, and joyful life!

I became widowed and retired at about the same time. I really did not have a plan or thought about this circumstance I find myself in. I have avoided eating animals for going on 15 years now. This might seem odd but for fun I collect trash. My kayak often looks more like a garbage scow as I gather plastics and other trash while kayaking on the river and at the beach. I mostly just find trash but I've found some interesting stuff too, including something the bomb squad had to blow up on the spot. I'm still waiting to find either a briefcase full of half a million dollars of drug money no one claims or a chest of pirate's treasure sticking half out of a sandbar.

I like to be active and keep in decent shape; not buff, but not pudgy either… kind of a happy medium! I like to do things outdoors and be active, but I have to admit I can Netflix Binge with the best of them, or spend an entire day moving from couch, to chair, to lawn chair, to bed, and back to the couch reading good a book. I’m pretty middle of the road politically. I used to lean more to the right, but now lean more to the left. I strongly believe in doing what we can to minimize climate change. I spend most of my time in El Paso where i work, but also own a home in Albuquerque where my two of my children live. I visit them every few months. I also have a daughter in Minneapolis and a son in Virginia Beach who I visit once or twice a year. I would love to travel more but work gets in the way. My ‘plan’ is to cut back to 20 hrs/week at age 62 and I’m on track to meet that goal. I’m excited and apprehensive about it at the same time. I sooo want to work less, but I sooo sooo don’t want to be bored. I think going part-time will be a good stepping stone for me, and will give me more time to travel. In the meantime, I’m just enjoying my job and interacting with my clients and co-workers and visiting my kiddos when I can.

Hello veg friends!
Long time vegan living with a couple rescue guinea pigs in the DMV area. After around twenty years in the IT sector, I am transitioning to law. I have a happy and lucky life. I am lucky to have many great supportive friends. People generally describe me as nerdy, hippy, intelligent, athletic, competitive, kind and outgoing. I think of myself as shy with the ability to be outgoing. I appreciate calmness and being able to relax. I love yoga and mediation. I smile a lot. I enjoy spending hours in coffee shops reading. I rarely watch television. I am a romantic who sees beauty everywhere in the world such as in music, art, nature, the way a friend smiles or simply seeing two people in love. These little moments of beauty bring me great joy and often bring a tear to my eye.
The most important aspect of my life are my friends and how I treat other people. I believe the key to happiness is how we treat other people.
I would like to think I am patient, understanding, non-judgmental, caring, honest, a good communicator and loving. I just ended a long term relationship.
