Well-rounded, eclectic and baggage-free describes me well. At any point I have several projects on the go requiring a wide range of skills and aptitudes. I was originally, and still am, qualified as an accountant although, apart from a pro-bono audit of a little Buddhist charity every year, I have not regularly done any accounting for quite some time.
The daily yoga and meditation I practise and everything else I do are spontaneously guided and effortless. Yoga has given me a strong and supple body with a spirit to match that belie my age.
Friends sometimes describe me as slightly eccentric which is taken as a compliment....but I'm not sure that's entirely correct. Certainly I'm healthily unpredictable, acutely intuitive, sometimes non-conformist in a conservative way and a little Machiavellian. On balance I'm probably intellectual with a dry philosophical sense of humour that is never at anyone else's expense. I can be chatty and cheerful while at other times intense and focused.
I prefer intimate one-on-one situations and steer clear of noisy places and crowds. Simple pursuits are more to my liking. I am dedicated to the people around me including allowing them space where space is needed.
I've described myself as a non-drinker as one alcoholic drink per month is about the limit of my enjoyment in that regard....call that what you will.
My style is relaxed and informal and my timeless spirit always shines through. Compliments from women about my eyes and my smile are not uncommon.

Strive to live a simple, nonmaterialistic, meaningful, and purposeful life. I'm a Luddite at heart, reminiscing about the halcyon days when we weren't overdependent on technology. I embrace sechel, not artificial intelligence, and modesty, not social media. 不患莫己知，求为可知也。"Don't fret about not being well-known; instead, strive to be worthy of being known" (Analects, book 4, verse 14). Jewish ideals inform and guide in all aspects of life. These include honesty and evenhandedness, including not saying anything essentially true but meant to mislead; not hurting people's feelings or saying negative things about them; giving others the benefit of the doubt and the opportunity to do the right thing; having a higher purpose in life, including work; and learning for the sake of learning, including from everyone! But people with similar values come from many paths in life, the ultimate expression of which is being a mensch or, as Confucius termed it, a junzi, someone who sets an example through his or her actions, which speak louder than words.
Enjoy hiking, being in nature, lizard-watching, learning, artistic creativity, and dry and waggish humor (but not sarcasm). Introverted and sometimes lost in thought, but hopefully thoughtful in more ways than one! Look for ways to help others while avoiding self-serving feelings like validation and pride. Adventurous but also risk-averse.

Seeking my type of weird. One who can talk about literally anything (I'm an open book). I am looking for a best friend who I also want to curl up in bed with.
I love to travel and be spontaneous. I will try anything at least once and love to learn and see new places or cultures. I built out a van and usually spend two to three months every summer on the road with a couple of my dogs. I have been to every state now and to a few different countries. Last summer, I drove through Canada and made it to Alaska. My favorite part of the trip was taking a detour on my way home to drive to the Arctic Ocean and jumping in the icy waters. Getting there required driving several days on remote dirt roads through Native land without cell reception and I only had access to a couple of gas stations. Reaching the ocean was amazing. Because of how far north it is, it never got dark so I curled up in a blanket along the shore and watched a never-ending sunset until I fell asleep around 3am.
I am a night owl and don't often wake up early unless I must.
In 2012, I started a non-profit animal rescue that I named after one of the first animals I rescued-- a lamb. While my rescue is primarily dogs and cats, I hope to also provide sanctuary to farm animals as well someday. Until I can rescue my own sheep and cows, I work and volunteer for a few ranches/sanctuaries. I don't mind getting dirty. I am not really into fashion or wearing make-up either. I like to be comfortable and I like to stay warm.
I am a busy person, but I make time for the people I care about, and my friends all know I am there if they need me (even if it's early in the morning).
I am looking for someone who loves animals, enjoys conversations about politics and philosophy and is a genuinely caring person. Also, if you like cooking, I love to eat. :) If you live in another state, I would be happy to go visit you the next time I am on the road and, if I have enough of a reason to stay somewhere, I would definitely consider moving.

Since my best friend, Dougald, left this world on June 28th this year,
My sadness hasn't diminished even a single day.

Most of us have feelings.
When we're sad, we don't need to resist it,

This experience of losing a dear friend
Has made me feel immense regret for his short life!
Because he was such a kind person!
Many say that for every effect, there's a cause.
Perhaps his early passing was due to this causal relationship.
I understand very well how the law of attraction works.
When you're happy,
The vibration you emit attracts things related to happiness.
When you're sad, you attract similar things that make you sad.
When you're angry, you attract similar things that make you angry.
... and so on.
So, to have a fulfilling life, the vibration you emit is crucial!
You can be sad, but don't let it persist for too long.
Learn how to transform sadness into strength.
When you're feeling down, realize that
Most people don't know how to control their emotions.
If you could handle it with a relaxed attitude, they wouldn't affect you.
Impermanence is a normal part of life; there's no need to lament it.
The important thing is to accept impermanence and strive to do what you love.
It will make you want to live a more meaningful, fulfilling, and joyful life!

I grew up in Ohio and lived in Utah and California before moving to New York and recently moved back to Ohio. I have been vegan since September 2008 (vegetarian about a year and a half before switching). I have worked helping animals for the past 13+ years. I started as an adoption counselor at a humane society in Ohio, than a dog caregiver at a large sanctuary in Utah, and for over 8 years I was a caregiver for farm animals at a sanctuary. I have a degree in Criminal Justice, but after a few years realized that helping animals was the direction I wanted to go with my career and life, and I haven't had any regrets. I have one four legged child who runs my life (no two legged ones for me). When I am not taking care of the animals at work or my girl at home, I enjoy spending time outside going for walks, hikes and biking. I'm a typical liberal arts person and an atheist. As to the atheist part, I think there's something much smarter than us in the universe, but it's been awfully quiet.
