In terms of religious beliefs, I am culturally Jewish, but entirely non-observant. It would be more accurate to state that I am a secular humanistic neo-Platonist, but for some strange reason that wasn’t one of the check list categories provided on this platform. I usually have several books on the go. Recent reads: “Tropic of Chaos: Climate Change and the New Geography of Violence”, by Christian Parenti and “The Selfish Gene” by Dawkins. The writings of Wendell Berry have been inspirational for me and I often refer to them in my lectures. In that vein, I am currently reading “Call of the Reed Warbler,” by Charles Massy. In addition to reading books and journals that are related to my work, I enjoy biographies (“Notorious RBG: The Life and Times of Ruth Bader Ginsburg” is on my birthday wish list) and I love classic works of historical fiction (Dumas, Scott) in particular. My favourite author, though, is W. Somerset Maugham.

Recently I've discovered the joy of living minimalisticly. I've learned that letting go of things that no longer serve me leads to serenity.
I'm a small business owner and I LOVE my profession. It makes me INCREDIBLY HAPPY... but sometimes (mostly seasonally) I work insanely long hours, and I need someone who is understanding of this. I don't see myself relocating my business.
Life is good. :) I have small close group of lifelong friends that are my chosen family. Several of them are vegan who also love to cook, so our gatherings always include lots of vegan food. Together we often enjoy board games, card games, escape rooms, bocce, and campfires.
A few of years ago I met a small group of compassionate people through a mindfulness based meditation group. Together we started a small community giving-garden. It's a project that is close to my heart, and I donate time there at least once a week sometimes more. I love getting my hands in the dirt, learning about gardening, and donating the fruits of our labor to feed the hungry.

Three doors up from me is a Clara Barton Historic marker posted on an 1860's church property which is part of a historic preservation area. Hobbies include daily exercise (with full body resistance training every other day), consuming content from NPR (especially via KQED Radio) and the PBS Newshour, and pursuing opportunities to help better myself or support the world around me :). Other than that, though, I'm very open to new experiences or activities, too.
Native English speaker and somewhat proficient in Spanish. I'm always up for learning more languages, especially if it helps me communicate with you or your loved ones better.
I was formerly pre-health (medical/dental) and then switched to project management because it has allowed me to continue working with and spending time with my family.
Twenty years from now, when those family opportunities are less prevalent, I'll probably look to go back to school (ideally to study something to help reduce animal and/or environmental exploitation, although hopefully humans are no longer doing that 20 years from now :p) or look into more lucrative professional options (and donate any earnings beyond what I would hope to remain a fairly frugal lifestyle to high-impact charities promoting animal welfare.)
Those plans are definitely flexible, however, especially if that flexibility would help me to better support the happiness of a wonderful vegan partner :)
