Politics here has been turning me off because, even though the two parties bicker relentlessly with each other, they both come together when it comes to supporting the Empire's endless war efforts. I'm a pacifist so I oppose all war efforts, including the NATO proxy war with Russia. I oppose empire in general and feel this world is here for all of us to share, not one country to dominate.
I'm a conscientious person paying attention to the most minute detail of the tasks I tackle; as a result they usually don't get done very quickly. I enjoy playing classical guitar, doing computer graphics, collecting and restoring vintage bicycles, going on fast bike rides, baking whole grain bread, and fixing up old cars. I much prefer old things to new things because old things are so much better quality and have more character.
I recycle what I can, use reusable shopping bags and use my bike for many of my errands to lessen my footprint in the world. I feel glad that I became a vegan years ago because, besides the obvious, it also lessens my carbon footprint by a lot.
I have a little dog named Rusty that I adopted after losing my beloved dog Wheaty unexpectedly last year. Unfortunately Rusty may have Cushings Disease so I don't know how much longer he will last either. I like rescuing shelter dogs, but I don't like losing them when they die.
In terms of my appearance I'm a very modest person and don't believe in tattoos or other such things to draw attention to myself. I try to keep myself clean and well groomed, but I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty.
Although they probably save lives, I'm not a big fan a vaccinations, mainly because they are relentlessly tested on animals during development. Obviously there's no magic shot that's going to end this pandemic: there's no end in sight to the suffering and death this horrible disease is causing since very few people are taking it seriously any more. This makes me both angry and sad. I take it seriously, however, and still wear a mask out in public. I could care less about what others think of this.

I am a lonely vegan in an area of Texas where there aren't even any vegan restaurants. I live in cattle country. It is sad. I feel like a sort of beaten down soul right now -- of course I shouldn't feel this way as my life is better than most I suppose. I have tried so hard to connect and make some friends in this place that I have lived since I got divorced a few years back, and I have made no friends. I go to several gyms, and I am open to meeting new people, but people just stare at their phones. I toy with the idea of going to church, but I have been to some churches here, and sadly, like how everything seems to be -- even my few visits have exposed that local churches are tightly wound with political agendas -- none of which I adhere to.
I am sometimes quite outgoing, but lately, I feel quite shy -- quite sad really -- the energy of years not meeting anyone in this area who is even vegetarian has weighed on me.
I work. I work a lot. I like what I do, and I am good at what I do. If I get to know you better we could talk about that. My work doesn't lend itself to meeting people locally or ever in person anywhere.
I aspire to write, however, being creative (which I am) takes a mindset that doesn't occur for me in constant isolation.
I am a sober person, and would like to meet someone else who is also sober. I don't know if I will ever meet that someone special. I hope I might at least makes some friends.

In theory, I practice presence / mindfulness and try to avoid speaking through ego. In reality, I'm outwardly a normal human being, totally not perfect, and I have my unconscious moments, too.
It would be great to find someone who shares a similar desire to be more conscious and is willing to both give and take helpful reminders when we start to slip up. Finding someone truly interested in this has been rather difficult for me. It is something I have had a hard time finding through traditional dating sites, so hoping to have better luck here.
I'm conscious of my physical desire for a partner and I'm following it with as much awareness as I can. I want to try to provide you with the masculinity that you desire from my side of a partnership while I keep from slipping into unconsciously identifying as a "side."
Some hobbies: backpacking, fermenting, movies, music, making smoothies and kale chips, day hikes, running, board/video games, and math/physics. During the pandemic, I ran at least 10k every single day to avoid lockdown boredom in the steep Santa Cruz Mountains. Although I've reduced that due to repetitive injury, I care a lot about my health and hope you care about your health, too! I prefer to use natural healing for physical/mental health -- holistic medicine, diet, exercise, supplements, and meditation/present-mindedness to ease stress. I'm not on board with some pharmaceuticals used in conventional medicine that only treat symptoms!

What was the reason for turning vegan?
“My dad was having problems with high blood pressure, so I went on a plant based diet with him to support him. We got into it together and have never looked back.”
What does world Vegan day mean to you and is there a way you celebrate it?
“I will hopefully eat with some of my good friends and share the gratitude that I have for my life as a vegan.”
How has being vegan helped to improve your lifestyle?
“I have lost weight and have become more mindful of the nutritional value of my food. I have gained much more compassion for other animals as well as my fellow man. It is a lifestyle of compassion. I am eternally grateful for the opportunity to choose Veganism in a world where for most this is not the norm.”
Do you cook any vegan food, if so what are some of your favourites to cook?
“I love to cook. One of my favourites to cook is an oatmeal fruit bowl for breakfast. All you need is a variety of fresh fruits and some oatmeal. Add in some walnuts, fresh ginger, basil and flax seed and you have the breakfast of champions. I also love to make a fresh tomato sandwich using organic tomatoes and add some avocado slices with some fresh spinach over bread spread with vegan mayonnaise.”
Any advice to anyone who is considering going vegan?
“For any prospective vegans, I would say watch the documentary; Forks Over Knives. Also, I would suggest becoming vegetarian first and then one day wean yourself off the dairy and eggs and you will be vegan. Have fun with it and make it a personal challenge to see if you can do it.”

I live with a wide-open heart full of unconditional, expansive love. I practice random acts of kindness nearly everyday. I meditate, do online breathwork sessions and enjoy spiritual (not religious) books and events.
When I am not creating art, I volunteer at a local humane society and at a local food shelf. I love to walk in the woods on my property also. I think I have a great sense of humor, but that's hard to express in words, and humor seems pretty subjective. I simply find a lot of things very funny.
During my life I've nurtured both human and non-human children; I've been a nanny to many children, and a friend/guardian to many non-humans. I love being around both.
I work as a home hospice nurse, which is an excellent outlet for providing compassion; I enjoy that home hospice includes physiology/microbiology/anatomy, psychology, spirituality, creativity, sociology, education, and yes, love. I'm also interested in actual health (vs. Western medicine as it stands).
I feel that I thoroughly explored career opportunities before becoming a nurse: a nanny, pre-school teacher's aid, tofu-maker, undercover agent, waitress, dance and aerobic instructor (as well as full-time dance student), secretary, hospital/ED unit assistant, receptionist, and salesperson. I like being a nurse because I continually LEARN, and there are many opportunities to assist others to learn (when they want to, that is!).
I've been relatively adventurous in my life, starting with childhood, growing up with an adventurous parent! Then, in teenage-hood, I took some solo bicycle adventures. It's continued into "adult-hood" with a nice swim adventure, and attempting motorcycling as transportation(ended abruptly with a fractured leg).

Living a principled life of meaning, purpose, simplicity, and growth is my goal. Originally from New Jersey, I went to college (Pomona) and beyond in southern California but have spent most of my adult life in southern Arizona. I find the Sonoran Desert to be magical, and I hike a lot, but you can see beauty in most places if your mind is open to it. The beauty of any place, though, derives mainly from the people who populate it. Character traits I value include "compassion and altruism, placidness, patience, and slowness to anger, and abundant loving-kindness and truthfulness" (Exodus 34:6), as well as reverence for all life. The latter includes wearing a mask, to protect both others and myself, during the pandemic! Practical examples of these traits include: being mindful of the needs of the disabled and the vulnerable; uplifting others and taking care not to hurt their feelings; and giving people the benefit of the doubt. I look for ways to help others, but, whatever I do, I try to avoid self-serving feelings like self-validation and pride.
With my scientific background, I'm mostly a left-brained person, but I try to exercise the right half as well, although I fall a little short of being a polymath. I appreciate the contribution of art to life and especially the creativity behind it, although I like to view it not just for its aesthetic beauty but also as an extension of the person behind it. I'm informed and guided in all aspects of living by Jewish ethical values and teachings, including that we can learn from everyone! I've been vegan for 35 years. I don't engage in social media, which I feel is harmful to society and unbecoming, and try hard not to let technology control my life. I've striven to bring Jewish medicine and the values it represents to the world via the eponymous website. In essence, it's a philosophy that regards medicine as a sacred vocation whose practitioners view their work as a calling, shunning any motivation that smacks of "what's in it for me?" The goal is to make the world safe not for democracy but for medical ethical meritocracy and, thereby, for patients. In that capacity, I also fill the urgent need for a source of evenhanded, authoritative information on vegetarian nutrition.
