Hobbies include daily exercise (with full body resistance training every other day), consuming content from NPR (especially via KQED Radio) and the PBS Newshour, and pursuing opportunities to help better myself or support the world around me :). Other than that, though, I'm very open to new experiences or activities, too.
Native English speaker and somewhat proficient in Spanish. I'm always up for learning more languages, especially if it helps me communicate with you or your loved ones better.
I was formerly pre-health (medical/dental) and then switched to project management because it has allowed me to continue working with and spending time with my family.
Twenty years from now, when those family opportunities are less prevalent, I'll probably look to go back to school (ideally to study something to help reduce animal and/or environmental exploitation, although hopefully humans are no longer doing that 20 years from now :p) or look into more lucrative professional options (and donate any earnings beyond what I would hope to remain a fairly frugal lifestyle to high-impact charities promoting animal welfare.)
Those plans are definitely flexible, however, especially if that flexibility would help me to better support the happiness of a wonderful vegan partner :)

I just don't see myself loving someone who doesn't care about killing / eating animals. For many of us, being a veggie is so much more than simply a diet.
I'm a former airline pilot changing careers (not by choice). My highly profitable airline was bought out, suddenly unexpectedly closed, the airline pilot retirement age was raised from 60 to 65 (no attrition for five years), and the economy was horrible. I sure miss flying the Boeing 727...the feeling of 48,000 pounds of thrust at my fingertips is difficult to duplicate! The beauty of the Earth from above is so breathtaking. A scratch in my eye from a brand new contact lens has cost me the career I so enjoyed. I went back to school and obtained my LPN, but have not used it yet due to a number of family tragedies. I had been taking care of my vegan Mom full time. Congestive heart failure is no fun. She fought a valiant battle, but is no longer with me. Now I am working on getting my house ready for sale to move into my parents (a few acres and a swimming pool).
I love music - tastes range from classical to oldies (Sinatra) to alternative, but I especially enjoy acoustic Latin / Mediterranean guitar. Hammocks - such a simple invention, but so relaxing! Canoeing, boating, bicycling, experiencing nature, tennis, or even throwing a Frisbee are all fun fair weather activities.
Based on my profile, you probably wouldn't guess I love to laugh, and joke around often. Sometimes my delivery is too dry for people to realize I'm joking...love watching the five second delay as someone gets it! I also enjoy a nice cuddle, going for walks, deep, and not so deep discussions.

I am a Canadian citizen and have been living part time in Mexico for about 10 years and own a home and gardens in the Lake Chapala area of Mexico which is about an hours drive south of the city of Guadalajara.

Putzing around a calm home helps me relax. I read, mess with the cat, take hot baths, drink a cup of tea, light a candle, catch a drama, documentary, Westworld, Indie or a foreign flick. I'm generally in bed early so I can work out the next day. For health and sanity.
I grew up internationally. SF is my home town - having lived here for 25 years - but high on my list is to visit Scandinavia part of the year. My parents are aging and my son lives there. It's a pretty nice place to be from... I would love to see more of the world as well. Searching for the next place to eat, finding street food, following in the footsteps of Haruki Murakami's and absorb the local culture from a cafe chair is good enough for me.

I stopped practicing clinical medicine almost 30 years ago because I felt it was no longer possible to do so ethically in the current environment. This is something few people outside the sphere of medicine can understand, because they lack knowledge of both the science and the culture of medicine today. Besides, most people have a psychological need to believe that things are being done in their best interests. Scientific medicine, by the way, can include any modalities, so long as there is at least some good evidence for their effectiveness. Specific therapies don't have to be proven and we don't even have to understand how they work. There is no such thing as "Western medicine" or "conventional medicine." But what's urgently needed is a system in which people view their work as a calling and shed themselves of any self-interest. I've written extensively on the subject.

I live with a wide-open heart full of unconditional, expansive love. I practice random acts of kindness nearly everyday. I meditate, do online breathwork sessions and enjoy spiritual (not religious) books and events.

Well-rounded, eclectic and baggage-free describes me well. At any point I have several projects on the go requiring a wide range of skills and aptitudes. I was originally, and still am, qualified as an accountant although, apart from a pro-bono audit of a little Buddhist charity every year, I have not regularly done any accounting for quite some time.
The daily yoga and meditation I practise and everything else I do are spontaneously guided and effortless. Yoga has given me a strong and supple body with a spirit to match that belie my age.
Friends sometimes describe me as slightly eccentric which is taken as a compliment....but I'm not sure that's entirely correct. Certainly I'm healthily unpredictable, acutely intuitive, sometimes non-conformist in a conservative way and a little Machiavellian. On balance I'm probably intellectual with a dry philosophical sense of humour that is never at anyone else's expense. I can be chatty and cheerful while at other times intense and focused.
I prefer intimate one-on-one situations and steer clear of noisy places and crowds. Simple pursuits are more to my liking. I am dedicated to the people around me including allowing them space where space is needed.
I've described myself as a non-drinker as one alcoholic drink per month is about the limit of my enjoyment in that regard....call that what you will.
My style is relaxed and informal and my timeless spirit always shines through. Compliments from women about my eyes and my smile are not uncommon.

Im not religious, dogmatic or literalist. I am spiritual. I'm non-denominational e.g. I'm not Catholic praying to Saints. Sometimes I attend church services at different churches cos one church has some beliefs in vegetarianism (Seventh Day Adventist). One other traditional church has a positive healing service. The other churches are contemporary (modern) with contemporary music I enjoy, which I find motivating, healing and connect with God.
I'm not one of those Christians who is homophobic, or extremely hypocritical, assuming and judgemental towards others, for example if, someone is divorced or, had an abortion or solo parent. No one is perfect, we all make mistakes, everyone is a sinner and who am I to judge your life, telling you what you can or can't do.
There is constant night life (bars, venues) five mins walk from where I reside, but I am not looking for a quick kiss, I am waiting for a serious relationship for a serious view of marriage.

I love walking in nature. I miss bushwalking camping. I prefer bush to city noise.
I'm not into labels on clothing or following fashion, I don't need someone else to tell me how to dress.
Into sustainability and Indigenous rights before greedy untrustworthy politics.

Eclectic re film, TV and music. I do not like the film genre: horror. I do not like the music style: death metal or techno boring drum beats thumping too loud. I don't watch tv. I prefer films, documentaries, news.

I would say that I am pretty balanced and well rounded - I'm an academic (biology and anthropology) who can repair or build all kinds of things. I'm also an artist and traveler. I'm generally clean and organized but not OCD. I'm cultured but not a snob. I generally think outside the mainstream - good thing I don't mind being out of step with the crowd. I'm a lifelong vegetarian and have eaten a mostly plant-based diet for almost 40 years but don't call myself a vegan. I can enjoy a shot of wheatgrass juice or a single-malt scotch. I enjoy lots of different kinds of music but can't make any of my own (well I can drum I guess...). I love to get out in nature and hike and photograph. My latest adventures were the solar eclipse in 2017, a safari to Kenya in 2018, Iceland last winter and the southwest in the fall of 2019 - I'd be happy to find someone to join me for the next one!
