I am a lonely vegan in an area of Texas where there aren't even any vegan restaurants. I live in cattle country. It is sad. I feel like a sort of beaten down soul right now -- of course I shouldn't feel this way as my life is better than most I suppose. I have tried so hard to connect and make some friends in this place that I have lived since I got divorced a few years back, and I have made no friends. I go to several gyms, and I am open to meeting new people, but people just stare at their phones. I toy with the idea of going to church, but I have been to some churches here, and sadly, like how everything seems to be -- even my few visits have exposed that local churches are tightly wound with political agendas -- none of which I adhere to. I am sometimes quite outgoing, but lately, I feel quite shy -- quite sad really -- the energy of years not meeting anyone in this area who is even vegetarian has weighed on me. I work. I work a lot. I like what I do, and I am good at what I do. If I get to know you better we could talk about that. My work doesn't lend itself to meeting people locally or ever in person anywhere. I aspire to write, however, being creative (which I am) takes a mindset that doesn't occur for me in constant isolation. I am a sober person, and would like to meet someone else who is also sober. I don't know if I will ever meet that someone special. I hope I might at least makes some friends.

In theory, I practice presence / mindfulness and try to avoid speaking through ego. In reality, I'm outwardly a normal human being, totally not perfect, and I have my unconscious moments, too. It would be great to find someone who shares a similar desire to be more conscious and is willing to both give and take helpful reminders when we start to slip up. Finding someone truly interested in this has been rather difficult for me. It is something I have had a hard time finding through traditional dating sites, so hoping to have better luck here. I'm conscious of my physical desire for a partner and I'm following it with as much awareness as I can. I want to try to provide you with the masculinity that you desire from my side of a partnership while I keep from slipping into unconsciously identifying as a "side." Some hobbies: backpacking, fermenting, movies, music, making smoothies and kale chips, day hikes, running, board/video games, and math/physics. I have a ton of appreciation of film, classical music, game design, and animation. I also really enjoy books, audiobooks, graphic novels and live performances. My creative outlets are through photography, video game development, philosophy, and, during the pandemic, I began experimenting with electronica. I have been blown away (in a really great way) listening to Eckhart Tolle. I think I have a great sense of humor, but that's hard to express in words, and humor seems pretty subjective. I simply find a lot of things very funny. During my life I've nurtured both human and non-human children; I've been a nanny to many children, and a friend/guardian to many non-humans. I love being around both. I work as a home hospice nurse, which is an excellent outlet for providing compassion; I enjoy that home hospice includes physiology/microbiology/anatomy, psychology, spirituality, creativity, sociology, education, and yes, love. I'm also interested in actual health (vs. Western medicine as it stands). I feel that I thoroughly explored career opportunities before becoming a nurse: a nanny, pre-school teacher's aid, tofu-maker, undercover agent, waitress, dance and aerobic instructor (as well as full-time dance student), secretary, hospital/ED unit assistant, receptionist, and salesperson. I like being a nurse because I continually LEARN, and there are many opportunities to assist others to learn (when they want to, that is!). I've been relatively adventurous in my life, starting with childhood, growing up with an adventurous parent! Then, in teenage-hood, I took some solo bicycle adventures. It's continued into "adult-hood" with a nice swim adventure, and attempting motorcycling as transportation(ended abruptly with a fractured leg).

I'm a caring, thoughtful person, and quite introverted. Despite all this I still will go out of my way to help others if I sense they need it, and I try not to judge. Politics here has been turning me off because, even though the two parties bicker relentlessly with each other, they both come together when it comes to supporting the Empire's endless war efforts. I'm a pacifist so I oppose all war efforts, including the NATO proxy war with Russia. I oppose empire in general and feel this world is here for all of us to share, not one country to dominate. I'm a conscientious person paying attention to the most minute detail of the tasks I tackle; as a result they usually don't get done very quickly. I enjoy playing classical guitar, doing computer graphics, collecting and restoring vintage bicycles, going on fast bike rides, baking whole grain bread, and fixing up old cars. I much prefer old things to new things because old things are so much better quality and have more character. I recycle what I can, use reusable shopping bags and use my bike for many of my errands to lessen my footprint in the world. I feel glad that I became a vegan years ago because, besides the obvious, it also lessens my carbon footprint by a lot. I have a little dog named Rusty that I adopted after losing my beloved dog Wheaty unexpectedly last year. Unfortunately Rusty may have Cushings Disease so I don't know how much longer he will last either. I like rescuing shelter dogs, but I don't like losing them when they die. In terms of my appearance I'm a very modest person and don't believe in tattoos or other such things to draw attention to myself. I try to keep myself clean and well groomed, but I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty. Although they probably save lives, I'm not a big fan a vaccinations, mainly because they are relentlessly tested on animals during development. Obviously there's no magic shot that's going to end this pandemic: there's no end in sight to the suffering and death this horrible disease is causing since very few people are taking it seriously any more. This makes me both angry and sad. I take it seriously, however, and still wear a mask out in public. I could care less about what others think of this.

Add in some walnuts, fresh ginger, basil and flax seed and you have the breakfast of champions. I also love to make a fresh tomato sandwich using organic tomatoes and add some avocado slices with some fresh spinach over bread spread with vegan mayonnaise.” Any advice to anyone who is considering going vegan? “For any prospective vegans, I would say watch the documentary; Forks Over Knives. Also, I would suggest becoming vegetarian first and then one day wean yourself off the dairy and eggs and you will be vegan. Living a principled life of meaning, purpose, simplicity, and growth is my goal. I look for ways to help others, but, whatever I do, I try to avoid self-serving feelings like self-validation and pride. With my scientific background, I'm mostly a left-brained person, but I try to exercise the right half as well, although I fall a little short of being a polymath. I appreciate the contribution of art to life and especially the creativity behind it, although I like to view it not just for its aesthetic beauty but also as an extension of the person behind it. I'm informed and guided in all aspects of living by Jewish ethical values and teachings, including that we can learn from everyone! I've been vegan for 35 years. I don't engage in social media, which I feel is harmful to society and unbecoming, and try hard not to let technology control my life. I've striven to bring Jewish medicine and the values it represents to the world via the eponymous website. In essence, it's a philosophy that regards medicine as a sacred vocation whose practitioners view their work as a calling, shunning any motivation that smacks of "what's in it for me?" The goal is to make the world safe not for democracy but for medical ethical meritocracy and, thereby, for patients. I live on a small acreage at the edge of a small city in southern Oregon. I spend some of each day interacting with the place with carpentry and gardening, depending on the season. There is much other time here for manifestations of creative energy...music, art, Qigong, etc. The setting is an integral part of and beautifully surrounded by nature. Personal History: Raised in a small town in southern Oregon. Studied fine arts in college during the era of the war in Vietnam. Refused military service and was ultimately awarded the classification of conscientious objector. Completed my 2 years of alternative service in the Peace Corps in Costa Rica. Traveled a third year in Central and South America. Returned to southern Oregon and, culture shocked, lived three years in backwoods settings. The last two of these years in a small log cabin deep in an ancient native forest (see photos). Grew large gardens, foraged for my food and studied Eastern religions, Native American history and primitive skills. Played lots of music. Practiced yoga. Painted naturescapes (see photos). Returned to civilization and joined with six other friends to open the area's first vegetarian restaurant. Worked for Wilderness preservation. Traveled and lived in Japan and China. Studied Japanese carpentry and Zen. Returned to southern Oregon and began work as a vocational rehabilitation counselor. Eventually became a legal counselor with a private non profit assisting client's of low income in matters of civil law. Loved counseling and problem solving with people to gain perspective on their life and legal situations. Married and later amicably divorced, focusing on raising our son and not our differences. During the years of legal services work I also taught a wilderness hiking class at a local college during spring and fall terms. In 2015 I left the legal work and returned to a small acreage where I have been working on gardening and carpentry projects since. I play piano daily and accordion occasionally. I have also worked periodically with a local vegetarian group that teaches and encourages the lifestyle. I have practiced Zhizeng Qigong daily since leaving the office.
