Enjoy hiking, being in nature, lizard-watching, learning, artistic creativity, and dry humor (but not sarcasm). Introverted and sometimes lost in thought, but hopefully thoughtful in more ways than one! Look for ways to help others while avoiding self-serving feelings like validation and pride. Empathetic to the point that it can sometimes cause distress. Adventurous but also risk-averse.
I live in the desert, which teaches humility, not only because we are dwarfed by the majestic mountains and the expansive valleys but also because we are humbled by the miraculous, mind-blowing adaptations that allow life in all its forms to not merely survive but thrive in the most challenging of environments. Nature can be our teacher and help us improve our character traits.
I stopped practicing clinical medicine almost 30 years ago when it was no longer possible to do so ethically. My magnum opus has been the definitive treatise on Jewish medicine, a moral system that is free of self-interest and that patients need not fear to enter.

My sadness hasn't diminished even a single day.

Most of us have feelings.

This experience of losing a dear friend
Has made me feel immense regret for his short life!
Because he was such a kind person!
Many say that for every effect, there's a cause.
Perhaps his early passing was due to this causal relationship.
I understand very well how the law of attraction works.
When you're happy,
The vibration you emit attracts things related to happiness.
When you're sad, you attract similar things that make you sad.
When you're angry, you attract similar things that make you angry.
... and so on.
So, to have a fulfilling life, the vibration you emit is crucial!
You can be sad, but don't let it persist for too long.

When you're feeling down, realize that
Most people don't know how to control their emotions.
If you could handle it with a relaxed attitude, they wouldn't affect you.
Impermanence is a normal part of life; there's no need to lament it.

Hobbies include daily exercise (with full body resistance training every other day), consuming content from NPR (especially via KQED Radio) and the PBS Newshour, and pursuing opportunities to help better myself or support the world around me :). Other than that, though, I'm very open to new experiences or activities, too.
Native English speaker and somewhat proficient in Spanish. I'm always up for learning more languages, especially if it helps me communicate with you or your loved ones better.
I was formerly pre-health (medical/dental) and then switched to project management because it has allowed me to continue working with and spending time with my family.
Twenty years from now, when those family opportunities are less prevalent, I'll probably look to go back to school (ideally to study something to help reduce animal and/or environmental exploitation, although hopefully humans are no longer doing that 20 years from now :p) or look into more lucrative professional options (and donate any earnings beyond what I would hope to remain a fairly frugal lifestyle to high-impact charities promoting animal welfare.)
Those plans are definitely flexible, however, especially if that flexibility would help me to better support the happiness of a wonderful vegan partner :)

I grew up on a dairy farm, went strict veg at 16 and vegan at 18 in a rodeo town in texas it made me fairly militant regarding animal rights, enviromental and anti racist activism ( think early antifa). trained as a chef sign language interpreter and diesel mechanic. I had a 5 star vegan restaurant for a minute during the greenscare, cooked in others since. im proud of my activist victories and dont plan to stop fighting. in a nut shell I'm a single former vegan chef, volunteer fire fighter, rescue diver, and long-term activist, now working in a more blue collar field who likes the outdoors more than friend , helping others & seeks a Vegan to be the buttercup to a blue eyed blonde haired farmboy ,( ok once blonde but now blue eyed bald and grey)im seeking an independent person who knows their mind and self. who could enjoy moonlight dances under the stars, star gazing among the firefly, old movie nights and someone who wishes to join him in a happily ever.

I'm still waiting to find either a briefcase full of half a million dollars of drug money no one claims or a chest of pirate's treasure sticking half out of a sandbar.

I work in a high school teaching textiles which I enjoy but it can be challenging some of the time. I'm not one for clubbing and would much prefer going out for a meal and an odd drink or staying in with candles lit, watching a dvd or listening to music, curled up on the sofa with the open fire blazing giving off a warm glow.

I love a deep, rich, blue sky. For me it represents clarity, possibilities, perspective, wonder. Clouds are ok (and, of course, inevitable) and can add contrast, color, movement and more perspective. On a day with blue sky I usually find myself looking up at some point or another, taking it in, awestruck for a spell.
And, I also usually find something to wonder or be curious about as I go through my day ~ yes, maybe the sky, some aspect of nature, how to approach a knotty problem, how nonjudgmental bit of humor can change an encounter or a room, and so on...
I've lived outside of the box and inside the box and continue to do both. I'm open and curious and yet also practical and have my feet on the ground.
And, I work on staying fit and healthy and I enjoy a scoop of coconut milk ice cream at the end of the day. I revel in gaining perspective - cultural, social, artistic, musical, spiritual, and scientific. And I'm pretty handy too. I can change a leaky washer that causes a sink to drip and do other stuff like that.
I'm interested in meeting others who are open to wonder and strive to be curious and ultimately a co-traveler.
