I became widowed and retired at about the same time. I really did not have a plan or thought about this circumstance I find myself in. I have avoided eating animals for going on 15 years now. When I considered meeting new people, I found that I am not interested in building new friendships or bonding with people that do not share my thoughts and beliefs about plant-based eating. I am nearly 70, so why waste the effort. I have old friends who just think I'm weird, and have known me long enough to be accepting of my quirks, being vegan is just another one. When I thought about dating again, I decided they must be plant-based, vegan or vegetarian. My sweet wife was all of those at different times. Animal welfare/animal rights are extremely important to me. Over the years, I have also rescued and provided hospice care for senior dogs and cats. Perhaps his early passing was due to this causal relationship.
I understand very well how the law of attraction works.
When you're happy,
The vibration you emit attracts things related to happiness.
When you're sad, you attract similar things that make you sad.
When you're angry, you attract similar things that make you angry.
... and so on.
So, to have a fulfilling life, the vibration you emit is crucial!
You can be sad, but don't let it persist for too long.
Learn how to transform sadness into strength.
When you're feeling down, realize that
Most people don't know how to control their emotions.
If you could handle it with a relaxed attitude, they wouldn't affect you.
Impermanence is a normal part of life; there's no need to lament it.
The important thing is to accept impermanence and strive to do what you love.

Humor is so important because it engenders and represents hope, something we all need. And no one has ever died of laughter. Is that what's meant by "humoral immunity"? ;)
Strive to live a simple, nonmaterialistic, meaningful, and purposeful life. I'm a Luddite at heart, reminiscing about the halcyon days when we weren't overdependent on technology. I embrace sechel, not artificial intelligence, and modesty, not social media. 不患莫己知，求为可知也。"Don't fret about not being well-known; instead, strive to be worthy of being known" (Analects, book 4, verse 14). Jewish ideals inform and guide in all aspects of life. These include honesty and evenhandedness, including not saying anything essentially true but meant to mislead (as in PR/marketing/media); not hurting people's feelings or saying negative things about them; giving others the benefit of the doubt and the opportunity to do the right thing; having a higher purpose in life, including work; and learning for the sake of learning, including from everyone! But people with similar values come from many paths in life, the ultimate expression of which is being a mensch or, as Confucius termed it, a junzi, someone who sets an example through his or her actions, which speak louder than words.
Enjoy hiking, being in nature, lizard-watching, learning, artistic creativity, and dry and waggish humor (but not sarcasm). Introverted and sometimes lost in thought, but hopefully thoughtful in more ways than one! Look for ways to help others while avoiding self-serving feelings like validation and pride. Adventurous but also risk-averse.
Love the natural environment in which I live, but the beauty of any place derives mainly from who's around you. Very willing to relocate.

Hello veg friends!
Long time vegan living with a couple rescue guinea pigs in the DMV area. After around twenty years in the IT sector, I am transitioning to law. So I have a job as a paralegal but it's not too demanding and gives me some free time. As an introvert, I've found myself a bit a of a homebody over the past few years. Though I enjoy getting vegan food at various places in the DMV, primarily VA, like Loving Hut, Sunflower, and Chay Vegetarian.
I'm a lefty and will certainly get along with other people who are or lean left. I don't believe that animals are "things" and should have as much rights as people. I was at the march for Sanity, I've seen Colbert live, and willing to go to the occasional protest.
Some video games I'm playing include Final Fantasy 14, Warframe, and Elden Ring. I'm not great, but good enough to do some end game content. Maybe you could introduce me to a game or play with me sometime? It's a nice way to relax a bit.

Putzing around a calm home helps me relax. I read, mess with the cat, take hot baths, drink a cup of tea, light a candle, catch a drama, documentary, Westworld, Indie or a foreign flick. I'm generally in bed early so I can work out the next day. For health and sanity.
I grew up internationally. SF is my home town - having lived here for 25 years - but high on my list is to visit Scandinavia part of the year. My parents are aging and my son lives there. It's a pretty nice place to be from... I would love to see more of the world as well. Searching for the next place to eat, finding street food, following in the footsteps of Haruki Murakami's and absorb the local culture from a cafe chair is good enough for me.

I like to be active and keep in decent shape; not buff, but not pudgy either… kind of a happy medium! I like to do things outdoors and be active, but I have to admit I can Netflix Binge with the best of them, or spend an entire day moving from couch, to chair, to lawn chair, to bed, and back to the couch reading good a book. I’m pretty middle of the road politically. I used to lean more to the right, but now lean more to the left. I strongly believe in doing what we can to minimize climate change. I spend most of my time in El Paso where i work, but also own a home in Albuquerque where my two of my children live. I visit them every few months. I also have a daughter in Minneapolis and a son in Virginia Beach who I visit once or twice a year. I would love to travel more but work gets in the way. My ‘plan’ is to cut back to 20 hrs/week at age 62 and I’m on track to meet that goal. I’m excited and apprehensive about it at the same time. I sooo want to work less, but I sooo sooo don’t want to be bored. I think going part-time will be a good stepping stone for me, and will give me more time to travel. Seeking my type of weird. One who can talk about literally anything (I'm an open book). I am looking for a best friend who I also want to curl up in bed with.
I love to travel and be spontaneous. I will try anything at least once and love to learn and see new places or cultures. I built out a van and usually spend two to three months every summer on the road with a couple of my dogs. I have been to every state now and to a few different countries. Last summer, I drove through Canada and made it to Alaska. My favorite part of the trip was taking a detour on my way home to drive to the Arctic Ocean and jumping in the icy waters. Getting there required driving several days on remote dirt roads through Native land without cell reception and I only had access to a couple of gas stations. Reaching the ocean was amazing. Because of how far north it is, it never got dark so I curled up in a blanket along the shore and watched a never-ending sunset until I fell asleep around 3am.
I am a night owl and don't often wake up early unless I must.
In 2012, I started a non-profit animal rescue that I named after one of the first animals I rescued-- a lamb. While my rescue is primarily dogs and cats, I hope to also provide sanctuary to farm animals as well someday. Until I can rescue my own sheep and cows, I work and volunteer for a few ranches/sanctuaries. I don't mind getting dirty. I am not really into fashion or wearing make-up either. I like to be comfortable and I like to stay warm.
I am a busy person, but I make time for the people I care about, and my friends all know I am there if they need me (even if it's early in the morning).
I am looking for someone who loves animals, enjoys conversations about politics and philosophy and is a genuinely caring person. Also, if you like cooking, I love to eat. :) If you live in another state, I would be happy to go visit you the next time I am on the road and, if I have enough of a reason to stay somewhere, I would definitely consider moving.
There's obviously a lot more to a person than what you can type in this box so here's just some of the more random things I love: flying, studying medicine, rock climbing, trees, movies, swimming, painting, concerts, photography, rain, criminology, dancing, potatoes, mud, kayaking, animals, road trips, and being barefoot.

I spend a lot of time outdoors. I kayak, hike, bike, birdwatch, and love meeting all my wild neighbors. The year before Covid I also started taking surfing lessons.
I write and advocate for causes I care about and have had some successes. The circus no longer comes to my town, there's a beautiful preserved forest that does NOT have a cell phone tower, there's a large city park where ALL smoking is banned.....
My favorite issues are environmental, animal rights, and those concerning poverty and human rights. I think in another life I must have been a peasant in a peasant uprising.
This might seem odd but for fun I collect trash. My kayak often looks more like a garbage scow as I gather plastics and other trash while kayaking on the river and at the beach. I mostly just find trash but I've found some interesting stuff too, including something the bomb squad had to blow up on the spot. I'm still waiting to find either a briefcase full of half a million dollars of drug money no one claims or a chest of pirate's treasure sticking half out of a sandbar.
I love gardening... for wildlife, for food, for beauty, organically, and with native plants.
I enjoy a variety of things and am always eager to learn new ones. I'm open to suggestions.....
