I really enjoy being in nature, quite literally - barefoot hiking, swimming, exploring off the beaten trail. I have been known to crawl through brush and bracken to find that secret grove, beautiful waterfall, or epic view. I value the experience of life in all its diversity and strive to live in harmony. My home is off grid on the slopes of Mauna Kea overlooking the vast Pacific Ocean. I share a beautiful farm with 4 of my 5 children, my mother, and about 100 animals of all types. We have orchards, gardens, and pastures. I love and cherish my home and family - animals included and am grateful everyday to wake up the song of birds and the rustle of trees. It is a special place that I would love to share with the right person whose dreams align with mine.
Travel and adventure is also important to me. The farm and family is a lot of responsibility, so it is important to take the time to enjoy the freedom of exploration. I try to travel at least 3-4 weeks out of the year off island and also enjoy little mini vacations on island (staycations) where I typically camp.I even enjoy mentally traveling and am learning how to journey in the more shamanic traditions.
I am fascinated by spirituality, consciousness, and the body and how these interrelate with reality and the universe. These are some of my favorite topics and musings. I do not enjoy politics or current events much but history(herstory also) and storytelling in general is super enlightening.

This might seem odd but for fun I collect trash. My kayak often looks more like a garbage scow as I gather plastics and other trash while kayaking on the river and at the beach. I mostly just find trash but I've found some interesting stuff too, including something the bomb squad had to blow up on the spot. I'm still waiting to find either a briefcase full of half a million dollars of drug money no one claims or a chest of pirate's treasure sticking half out of a sandbar.

Well-rounded, eclectic and baggage-free describes me well. At any point I have several projects on the go requiring a wide range of skills and aptitudes. I was originally, and still am, qualified as an accountant although, apart from a pro-bono audit of a little Buddhist charity every year, I have not regularly done any accounting for quite some time.
The daily yoga and meditation I practise and everything else I do are spontaneously guided and effortless. Yoga has given me a strong and supple body with a spirit to match that belie my age.
Friends sometimes describe me as slightly eccentric which is taken as a compliment....but I'm not sure that's entirely correct. Certainly I'm healthily unpredictable, acutely intuitive, sometimes non-conformist in a conservative way and a little Machiavellian. On balance I'm probably intellectual with a dry philosophical sense of humour that is never at anyone else's expense. I can be chatty and cheerful while at other times intense and focused.
I prefer intimate one-on-one situations and steer clear of noisy places and crowds. Simple pursuits are more to my liking. I am dedicated to the people around me including allowing them space where space is needed.
I've described myself as a non-drinker as one alcoholic drink per month is about the limit of my enjoyment in that regard....call that what you will.
My style is relaxed and informal and my timeless spirit always shines through. Compliments from women about my eyes and my smile are not uncommon.

Hobbies include daily exercise (with full body resistance training every other day), consuming content from NPR (especially via KQED Radio) and the PBS Newshour, and pursuing opportunities to help better myself or support the world around me :). Other than that, though, I'm very open to new experiences or activities, too.
Native English speaker and somewhat proficient in Spanish. I'm always up for learning more languages, especially if it helps me communicate with you or your loved ones better.
I was formerly pre-health (medical/dental) and then switched to project management because it has allowed me to continue working with and spending time with my family.
Twenty years from now, when those family opportunities are less prevalent, I'll probably look to go back to school (ideally to study something to help reduce animal and/or environmental exploitation, although hopefully humans are no longer doing that 20 years from now :p) or look into more lucrative professional options (and donate any earnings beyond what I would hope to remain a fairly frugal lifestyle to high-impact charities promoting animal welfare.)
Those plans are definitely flexible, however, especially if that flexibility would help me to better support the happiness of a wonderful vegan partner :)

I just don't see myself loving someone who doesn't care about killing / eating animals. For many of us, being a veggie is so much more than simply a diet.
I'm a former airline pilot changing careers (not by choice). My highly profitable airline was bought out, suddenly unexpectedly closed, the airline pilot retirement age was raised from 60 to 65 (no attrition for five years), and the economy was horrible. I sure miss flying the Boeing 727...the feeling of 48,000 pounds of thrust at my fingertips is difficult to duplicate! The beauty of the Earth from above is so breathtaking. A scratch in my eye from a brand new contact lens has cost me the career I so enjoyed. I went back to school and obtained my LPN, but have not used it yet due to a number of family tragedies. I had been taking care of my vegan Mom full time. Congestive heart failure is no fun. She fought a valiant battle, but is no longer with me. Now I am working on getting my house ready for sale to move into my parents (a few acres and a swimming pool).
I love music - tastes range from classical to oldies (Sinatra) to alternative, but I especially enjoy acoustic Latin / Mediterranean guitar. Hammocks - such a simple invention, but so relaxing! Canoeing, boating, bicycling, experiencing nature, tennis, or even throwing a Frisbee are all fun fair weather activities.
Based on my profile, you probably wouldn't guess I love to laugh, and joke around often. Sometimes my delivery is too dry for people to realize I'm joking...love watching the five second delay as someone gets it! I also enjoy a nice cuddle, going for walks, deep, and not so deep discussions.

Cycling, hiking, camping, kayaking, snorkeling, and sailing are my favorite outdoor activities. No, I do not own a boat. I'm learning to sail on Hilo Bay. My regular bike ride is 22 miles. My last hike was about 7 miles.
I am learning to dance for the first time in my life and even though I don't know Spanish, and quite often don't know what I am doing, I am having a blast! I'm taking classes in Salsa and Rueda de Casino which is like square dancing in a circle with the calls in Spanish!
I am on a spiritual journey, participating in Kirtan, singing bowl meditations, Hatha Yoga, and sweat lodges.

I have been a bit nomad last times, also when I was youger I lived in several countries, but lately I didn't plan it, it just happened, I lived a couple of years in the stunning Scottish Highland , came back home two more years and then I spent 7 month in the amazing, beautiful, wild and cold...North of Sweden.
So here I am again, in the green and hilly Galicia, Northwest Spain, I live in a self built house at the country side, and I like to call it my " base camp for the life journey ", so home sweet home again, it's not just about a quiet and peaceful life close to nature, wich I do love and enjoy , it's also a way of life, more sustainable, trying to achieve " wealthiness " by reducing artificial needs, and staying the more away I can from the crazy consumerism that feeds a perpetual growth economy wich is destroying our planet.
I live at the country side but not that far from a small city, I also enjoy contact with humanity...
