Strive to live a simple, nonmaterialistic, meaningful, and purposeful life. I'm a Luddite at heart, reminiscing about the halcyon days when we weren't overdependent on technology. I embrace sechel, not artificial intelligence, and modesty, not social media. Jewish ideals inform and guide in all aspects of life. These include honesty and evenhandedness, including not saying anything essentially true but meant to mislead; shunning hurtful or derogatory comments; giving others the benefit of the doubt and the opportunity to do the right thing; having a higher purpose in life, including work; and learning for the sake of learning, including from everyone! This might seem odd but for fun I collect trash. My kayak often looks more like a garbage scow as I gather plastics and other trash while kayaking on the river and at the beach. I mostly just find trash but I've found some interesting stuff too, including something the bomb squad had to blow up on the spot. I'm still waiting to find either a briefcase full of half a million dollars of drug money no one claims or a chest of pirate's treasure sticking half out of a sandbar.

I think everything about how we approach romantic relationships is more or less completely upside down. Let's first investigate who we are to one another, and if we share a mutual admiration for and enjoyment of one another. No timeline, no pressure, no particular goal in mind, just an open interest in whatever emerges. Of course romance is wonderful if that is what is in store for us! But let's stay open and curious and avoid the usual scripts.
All that said, a bit about me and what is most important to me.
I've been vegan for 20+ years and was vegetarian many years prior to that. Veganism and a stance of moral equality with animals is a core pillar of my moral and ethical worldview and something I need to have in common with my most significant connections.
I'm passionate about veganic permaculture and I live on a spectacularly overgrown and almost entirely untamed five acres in rural West Virginia, where I don't have an HOA to complain about my bad behavior.
I work as a coach and counselor, and I am a huge believer in (good!) therapy. If you don't have a very good sense of how your childhood wounds are still influencing your patterns and emotional capacity as an adult, and you don't have a real passion for healing and expanding that capacity, we probably won't be able to develop much of a connection.
I would say I'm "spiritual but not religious," as annoying as that phrase is. I believe we are spiritual beings having a physical experience, and that our prime directive is to grow toward truth and love. I find a great deal of faith in the divine order to things (and the nature of that divine order) by observing the natural world.
I'm over a decade sober, and as part of my recovery I practice (or try to, however awkwardly and uncomfortably and imperfectly) radical honesty. This is on a moment-by-moment basis, self-disclosure of what is coming up and what is happening. I deeply desire to find this in others as well. Sober, vegan, radically honest....I'm a lot of fun at parties!

For eight years I lived happily in the south of France in the beautiful Gaillac area; where the rolling hills are crisscrossed with vines, and sunflowers, the roads are clear and there was peace and beauty.
I shared my life with my wonderful collie cross dog who became thirteen years old and a joy. I left, as she ( my dog) was coming to the end of her life and I wanted her to spend her last times with my ex - her ‘daddy’ who also loved her, whose health wasn’t too good and who really needed to be walking!
But now, three years down the line, I am back in the UK. My darling dog is no more. I am still single. Still looking for an environmentally aware, preferably vegan man.

I just don't see myself loving someone who doesn't care about killing / eating animals. For many of us, being a veggie is so much more than simply a diet.
I'm a former airline pilot changing careers (not by choice). My highly profitable airline was bought out, suddenly unexpectedly closed, the airline pilot retirement age was raised from 60 to 65 (no attrition for five years), and the economy was horrible. I sure miss flying the Boeing 727...the feeling of 48,000 pounds of thrust at my fingertips is difficult to duplicate! The beauty of the Earth from above is so breathtaking. A scratch in my eye from a brand new contact lens has cost me the career I so enjoyed. I went back to school and obtained my LPN, but have not used it yet due to a number of family tragedies. I had been taking care of my vegan Mom full time. Congestive heart failure is no fun. She fought a valiant battle, but is no longer with me. Now I am working on getting my house ready for sale to move into my parents (a few acres and a swimming pool).
I love music - tastes range from classical to oldies (Sinatra) to alternative, but I especially enjoy acoustic Latin / Mediterranean guitar. Hammocks - such a simple invention, but so relaxing! Canoeing, boating, bicycling, experiencing nature, tennis, or even throwing a Frisbee are all fun fair weather activities.
Based on my profile, you probably wouldn't guess I love to laugh, and joke around often. Sometimes my delivery is too dry for people to realize I'm joking...love watching the five second delay as someone gets it! I also enjoy a nice cuddle, going for walks, deep, and not so deep discussions.

I am an adventurous, easy going guy who loves travels, nature, photography and experiencing new places and cultures...I'm a nature lover and an explorer by heart..(Recently I got back from a full year of traveling around Australia and New Zealand). I like sports (doing, not watching(-:) and love anything that pumps adrenalin into your blood, like skydiving, motorcycling, rock climbing and extreme sports in general... I love the ocean and related activities like scuba diving and surfing. I love the winter and the rain, and try to avoid the sun as best I can (I get burnt very easily)...if I survived the Australian desert I'll survive anything...
music is my life I love anything that's good, from metal to classical music, while skipping Britney Spears and her likes.. I'm also trained in Classical Piano, I managed to play on the occasional Piano while traveling, now I'm back to practicing on a daily basis.
When I wanna engage in less "dangerous" activities I like to relax at home and watch a good movie, preferably under blankets with my loved one :)
Few things turn me on more than feeling the curves of the road as I head into the mountains for a weekend getaway with someone special..

Hobbies include daily exercise (with full body resistance training every other day), consuming content from NPR (especially via KQED Radio) and the PBS Newshour, and pursuing opportunities to help better myself or support the world around me :). Biography: A long and winding road. .Rural Texas upbringing. UTAustin, intending to be a physicist, but it was the late sixties and there were lots of distractions going by, many of which were wearing very tiny skirts, so, long story short, a stint in San Francisco and Berkeley as a charter member of the Hippies, and then an extended second act as an engineer running my small SoCal firm until, yippie, retirement. Please tell me I won't be putting "The End" up yet.
I believe that the physical Universe has an associated mentality, and have always felt that spirituality was my vocation, and engineering just my avocation. I believe that all consciousness is One, and had a motto placed on my bank checks stating that "Animals are our equals, there is no Master Race". But I think the established religions are just power freaks wanting an exclusive franchise on something powerful, and the whole New Age thing was too unscientific for me, although I LOVE New Agers, in general, with their fine states of consciousness making their superstitions not a turn off, in spite of their illogic. I have a country home polished over the decades to be just what I want, and, frankly, I stay at home a lot, surrounded by my own forest. Not agoraphobic, no fear of leaving ... but I have been Home, and I have been to numerous other places, and there really is no place like Home.
My favorite activity is singing. I recorded 15 songs onto a CD, as a Bucket List item. ... Oh, and I roast my own beans from the world's finest varieties and brew a quite unique creation of my own, which I call EspressoSanDiego. So if you take coffee as seriously as some do, I may have suddenly gone near the top of your list.
PS please do not let my age deter you ... I look quite a bit younger than what you would expect from a guy born in the first half of the 20th Century, and I'm not certain I ever matured emotionally beyond fourteen, or at least that's how old I see myself. Still fourteen.

No meds other than some aspirin every day. If you know the Briggs-Meyers scale, I'm an INFJ (more introverted than extroverted; more intuitive than sensing; (supposedly) more feeling than thinking; more judging than perceiving). I adore this stunningly beautiful planet and every non-human species that inhabits it (the species that humans haven't driven to extinction yet, at least), but I am a misanthropic antinatalist who considers our species to be a terminally self-obsessed, all-around, Earth-raping, animal-torturing disaster. I suppose I'm a Pagan, because it's the animals, Earth, Water, Air, and forests that I really worship. To be brutally honest, I don't have much respect for the "mainstream" religions - I've studied too much history and am too keen a watcher of current events!
