I love the outdoors. I enjoy cycling, camping, hiking, weight lifting and most fitness activities. I am a vegan for ethical reasons. I become a vegan in 2015. I love most types of music. Particularly, blues, alternative, folk, jazz and rock.
I have a happy and lucky life. I am lucky to have many great supportive friends. People generally describe me as nerdy, hippy, intelligent, athletic, competitive, kind and outgoing. I think of myself as shy with the ability to be outgoing. I appreciate calmness and being able to relax. I love yoga and mediation. I smile a lot. I enjoy spending hours in coffee shops reading. I rarely watch television. I am a romantic who sees beauty everywhere in the world such as in music, art, nature, the way a friend smiles or simply seeing two people in love. These little moments of beauty bring me great joy and often bring a tear to my eye.
The most important aspect of my life are my friends and how I treat other people. I believe the key to happiness is how we treat other people.
I would like to think I am patient, understanding, non-judgmental, caring, honest, a good communicator and loving. I just ended a long term relationship. While I am looking for something long term I do not want to rush into anything. I would prefer to begin slowly, building a friendship first and see where that goes.

I'm newly single after a four-year relationship. I am one of those people who moved to a rural area during Covid to escape urban craziness, but it's pretty hard to find likeminded people. I'm politically homeless. Completely disgusted with the corruption and overreach of both parties. I have a PhD in political science and at this point in life, pretty much hate politics. If I had to identify with a political philosophy, maybe some kind of weird pacifist libertarian?
I don't fit into any organized religious paradigms either, but believe in an intelligent universe and constantly seek to understand it better through nature and radical honesty in relationship.

I grew up in Ohio and lived in Utah and California before moving to New York and recently moved back to Ohio. I have been vegan since September 2008 (vegetarian about a year and a half before switching). I have worked helping animals for the past 13+ years. I started as an adoption counselor at a humane society in Ohio, than a dog caregiver at a large sanctuary in Utah, and for over 8 years I was a caregiver for farm animals at a sanctuary. I became widowed and retired at about the same time. I really did not have a plan or thought about this circumstance I find myself in. I have avoided eating animals for going on 15 years now.
