What a platform to start a conversation here. I certainly agree that animal research for vaccines is wrong, wrong, wrong. Sometimes we have to go outside our comfort zone. I am sure if I were younger, I would stand by morals and not take a vaccine that may contain animal and has been tested on animals. I guess we all go through phases at different times in our lives and sometimes our views change. In Islam, their belief is that if you consume an animal, and it is prayed over, it will be used for wellness and holiness in the person consuming it.

I live with a wide-open heart full of unconditional, expansive love. I practice random acts of kindness nearly everyday. I meditate, do online breathwork sessions and enjoy spiritual (not religious) books and events.
When I am not creating art, I volunteer at a local humane society and at a local food shelf. I love to walk in the woods on my property also. In addition, I enjoy working outdoors doing yard chores and flower gardening. Antiquing, auctions, yard sales, flea markets, music events and car trips to new places are some other things I like to do from time to time.
The mountains hold a special place in my heart and I now own a home on top of a small mountain in southern Vermont. My home is surrounded by flower gardens and several acres of woods. There is a lovely view of the valley below and a larger mountain in the distance.

Generally I am a happy person - I am close with my family and have many good close friends. Living a principled life of meaning, purpose, simplicity, and growth is my goal. Originally from New Jersey, I went to college (Pomona) and beyond in southern California but have spent most of my adult life in southern Arizona. I find the Sonoran Desert to be magical, and I hike a lot, but you can see beauty in most places if your mind is open to it. The beauty of any place, though, derives mainly from the people who populate it. Character traits I value include "compassion and altruism, placidness, patience, and slowness to anger, and abundant loving-kindness and truthfulness" (Exodus 34:6), as well as reverence for all life. The latter includes wearing a mask, to protect both others and myself, during the pandemic! Practical examples of these traits include: being mindful of the needs of the disabled and the vulnerable; avoiding ableist language; uplifting others; and giving people the benefit of the doubt. I look for ways to help others, but, whatever I do, I try to avoid self-serving feelings like self-validation and pride.
With my scientific background, I'm mostly a left-brained person, but I try to exercise the right half as well, although I fall a little short of being a polymath. I appreciate the contribution of art to life and especially the creativity behind it, although I like to view it not just for its aesthetic beauty but also as an extension of the person behind it. Jewish ethical values (which are mostly universal in nature) and teachings inform and guide me in all aspects of living -- including diet! I've been vegan for 35 years. I don't engage in social media, which I feel is harmful to society and unbecoming, and try hard not to let technology control my life. I've striven to bring Jewish medicine and the values it represents to the world via the eponymous website. In essence, it's a philosophy that regards medicine as a sacred vocation whose practitioners view their work as a calling, shunning any motivation that smacks of "what's in it for me?" The goal is to make the world safe not for democracy but for medical ethical meritocracy and, thereby, for patients. In that capacity, I also fill the urgent need for a source of evenhanded, authoritative information on vegetarian nutrition.

In theory, I practice presence / mindfulness and try to avoid speaking through ego. In reality, I'm outwardly a normal human being, totally not perfect, and I have my unconscious moments, too.
It would be great to find someone who shares a similar desire to be more conscious and is willing to both give and take helpful reminders when we start to slip up. Finding someone truly interested in this has been rather difficult for me. It is something I have had a hard time finding through traditional dating sites, so hoping to have better luck here.
I'm conscious of my physical desire for a partner and I'm following it with as much awareness as I can. I want to try to provide you with the masculinity that you desire from my side of a partnership while I keep from slipping into unconsciously identifying as a "side."
Some hobbies: backpacking, fermenting, movies, music, making smoothies and kale chips, day hikes, running, board/video games, and math/physics. During the pandemic, I ran at least 10k every single day to avoid lockdown boredom in the steep Santa Cruz Mountains. Although I've reduced that due to repetitive injury, I care a lot about my health and hope you care about your health, too! I prefer to use natural healing for physical/mental health -- holistic medicine, diet, exercise, supplements, and meditation/present-mindedness to ease stress. I'm not on board with some pharmaceuticals used in conventional medicine that only treat symptoms!
