I spend a lot of time outdoors. I kayak, hike, bike, birdwatch, and love meeting all my wild neighbors. The year before Covid I also started taking surfing lessons.
I write and advocate for causes I care about and have had some successes. The circus no longer comes to my town, there's a beautiful preserved forest that does NOT have a cell phone tower, there's a large city park where ALL smoking is banned.....
My favorite issues are environmental, animal rights, and those concerning poverty and human rights. I think in another life I must have been a peasant in a peasant uprising.
This might seem odd but for fun I collect trash. My kayak often looks more like a garbage scow as I gather plastics and other trash while kayaking on the river and at the beach. I mostly just find trash but I've found some interesting stuff too, including something the bomb squad had to blow up on the spot. I'm still waiting to find either a briefcase full of half a million dollars of drug money no one claims or a chest of pirate's treasure sticking half out of a sandbar.
I love gardening... for wildlife, for food, for beauty, organically, and with native plants.
I enjoy a variety of things and am always eager to learn new ones. I'm open to suggestions.....

I enjoy simple things in life very much, helping people and being helped too at times.
Dancing is something I enjoy and I am excited about opening up my singing voice much more.
I work with a charity for people with disabilities-helping people to have fun, exercise and learning experiences on bikes! also I am a massage therapist and work in the mountains as a wild crafter at times.
One of my favorite things to do is be in water, in the ocean, a lake, river or creek. I have had the pleasure of living in situations where I could do that daily, I really wish this again in my life and sharing this is really fun too.
As a teenager I made it my intention to live a life in which I did not look forward to getting drunk on the weekend, I never want to wish any of my working days to hurry up and finish-that would be wishing part of my life away and I realised that long ago too. I think I have been very successful up to now in avoiding such ways by enjoying doing different types of work which i get paid and different types of work I don't get paid for-I don't have chores as i enjoy cleaning and getting food and other life activities, I enjoy a lot of things I do, seeing them as valuable in themselves as experiences. I have loved working with kids and wish to do this a lot more.
I love mending, making and repurposing things and practices of living simply. I have done some talks and a few articles on this subject. In many ways I live simply, this primarily being so others can simply live; and I earn less, buy less,trash less and because of this I think I have a beautiful life in many ways.
Recently I have started speaking in schools about animal rights.

Woe is me! I don't get no respect at all. I says to this cook, "Can you do vegan for me?" She says, "What kind of girl do you think I am?" I go to the vet's to buy some vegan puppy chow. She says, "Is it to go or will you eat it here?" (à la Rodney Dangerfield)

Humor is so important because it engenders and represents hope, something we all need. And no one has ever died of laughter. Is that what's meant by "humoral immunity"? ;)
Strive to live a simple, nonmaterialistic, meaningful, and purposeful life. I'm a Luddite at heart, reminiscing about the halcyon days when we weren't overdependent on technology. I embrace sechel, not artificial intelligence, and modesty, not social media. Jewish ideals inform and guide in all aspects of life. These include honesty and evenhandedness, including not saying anything essentially true but meant to mislead; shunning hurtful or derogatory comments; giving others the benefit of the doubt and the opportunity to do the right thing; having a higher purpose in life, including work; and learning for the sake of learning, including from everyone! But people with similar values come from many paths in life, the ultimate expression of which is being a mensch or, as Confucius termed it, a junzi, someone who sets an example through his or her actions, which speak louder than words.
Enjoy hiking, being in nature, lizard-watching, learning, artistic creativity, and dry and waggish humor (but not sarcasm). Introverted and sometimes lost in thought, but hopefully thoughtful in more ways than one! Look for ways to help others while avoiding self-serving feelings like validation and pride. Adventurous but also risk-averse.

I love to dance to uplifting stuff ( eg 'The Gypsy Kings ) ,but I love beautiful classical music - my favourite piece is Camille Saint-Saens piano concerto No.2 in G minor - sometimes majestic, sometimes playful ( as in the 2nd movement) ! I had piano lessons as a child and reached a pretty good standard - then 'life' took over , though I'm determined to start playing again.

Let me describe what a great relationship looks like to me.....

Since my best friend, Dougald, left this world on June 28th this year,
My sadness hasn't diminished even a single day.

Perhaps his early passing was due to this causal relationship.
I understand very well how the law of attraction works.

... and so on.
So, to have a fulfilling life, the vibration you emit is crucial!
You can be sad, but don't let it persist for too long.
Learn how to transform sadness into strength.
When you're feeling down, realize that
Most people don't know how to control their emotions.
If you could handle it with a relaxed attitude, they wouldn't affect you.
Impermanence is a normal part of life; there's no need to lament it.
The important thing is to accept impermanence and strive to do what you love.
It will make you want to live a more meaningful, fulfilling, and joyful life!

I became widowed and retired at about the same time. I really did not have a plan or thought about this circumstance I find myself in. I have avoided eating animals for going on 15 years now. When I considered meeting new people, I found that I am not interested in building new friendships or bonding with people that do not share my thoughts and beliefs about plant-based eating. I am nearly 70, so why waste the effort. I have old friends who just think I'm weird, and have known me long enough to be accepting of my quirks, being vegan is just another one. When I thought about dating again, I decided they must be plant-based, vegan or vegetarian. My sweet wife was all of those at different times. I also wish to only date other widowed people, so it seems like I am asking for a lot. "Well, who doesn't harbour a Hallmark Christmas dream of a Winter Solstice lantern parade to end 2025 with!"

As a child, walks in the park with my father lead me understand that animals aren't our playthings. From that, I decided that it was wrong to test on them, but somehow it didn't occur to me to also question eating them. But now I've been (mostly) vegan now for two decades. (I say "mostly" because I still will sometimes have cheese, such as when I'm at a restaurant without dairy-free alternatives.)
I'm fortunate that my career enables me to promote my values while using my sense of curiosity, my impulse for creativity, and my desire to socialize. Because of all that, I tend to be a pretty upbeat and positive person.
I like to explore and learn about new things (especially when they are a bit quirky), so I enjoy museums and architecture tours. But I also enjoy browsing book stores, thrift shops, flea markets -- and casual walks in forest preserves. (Bonus points if if a deer shows up!) For a more low-key form of downtime, I like conversations or snuggling on a couch to watch a movie or TV show. (Some favorite shows: The West Wing, The Newsroom, Downton Abbey, Great British Bake Off.)

Health conscious: a non-judgmental, ovo-lacto vegetarian who's not above having a drink with friends. Enjoy all sciences (education in Geography, Earth Sciences) while on a spiritual "path". Left-handed, right-brained (more spatial than verbal). More impressed with humility than hubris.
Retired in 2012 to central TN, Cumberland Plateau. Have a 4.5 Ac place which I am improving upon & making more "green". My first project was adding 24 solar panels. Have accomplished enough (e.g. new roof, HVAC, paint, & other fixes) so that I can (finally LOL) feel comfortable expanding my activities like dating & traveling.
