Seeking my type of weird. One who can talk about literally anything (I'm an open book). I am looking for a best friend who I also want to curl up in bed with.
I love to travel and be spontaneous. I will try anything at least once and love to learn and see new places or cultures. I built out a van and usually spend two to three months every summer on the road with a couple of my dogs. I have been to every state now and to a few different countries. Last summer, I drove through Canada and made it to Alaska. My favorite part of the trip was taking a detour on my way home to drive to the Arctic Ocean and jumping in the icy waters. Getting there required driving several days on remote dirt roads through Native land without cell reception and I only had access to a couple of gas stations. Reaching the ocean was amazing. Because of how far north it is, it never got dark so I curled up in a blanket along the shore and watched a never-ending sunset until I fell asleep around 3am.
I am a night owl and don't often wake up early unless I must.
In 2012, I started a non-profit animal rescue that I named after one of the first animals I rescued-- a lamb. While my rescue is primarily dogs and cats, I hope to also provide sanctuary to farm animals as well someday. Until I can rescue my own sheep and cows, I work and volunteer for a few ranches/sanctuaries. I don't mind getting dirty. I am not really into fashion or wearing make-up either. I like to be comfortable and I like to stay warm.
I am a busy person, but I make time for the people I care about, and my friends all know I am there if they need me (even if it's early in the morning).
I am looking for someone who loves animals, enjoys conversations about politics and philosophy and is a genuinely caring person. Also, if you like cooking, I love to eat. :) If you live in another state, I would be happy to go visit you the next time I am on the road and, if I have enough of a reason to stay somewhere, I would definitely consider moving.
There's obviously a lot more to a person than what you can type in this box so here's just some of the more random things I love: flying, studying medicine, rock climbing, trees, movies, swimming, painting, concerts, photography, rain, criminology, dancing, potatoes, mud, kayaking, animals, road trips, and being barefoot.

I spend a lot of time outdoors. I kayak, hike, bike, birdwatch, and love meeting all my wild neighbors. The year before Covid I also started taking surfing lessons.
I write and advocate for causes I care about and have had some successes. The circus no longer comes to my town, there's a beautiful preserved forest that does NOT have a cell phone tower, there's a large city park where ALL smoking is banned.....
My favorite issues are environmental, animal rights, and those concerning poverty and human rights. I think in another life I must have been a peasant in a peasant uprising.
This might seem odd but for fun I collect trash. My kayak often looks more like a garbage scow as I gather plastics and other trash while kayaking on the river and at the beach. I mostly just find trash but I've found some interesting stuff too, including something the bomb squad had to blow up on the spot. I'm still waiting to find either a briefcase full of half a million dollars of drug money no one claims or a chest of pirate's treasure sticking half out of a sandbar.
I love gardening... for wildlife, for food, for beauty, organically, and with native plants.

Happy Vegan taking care of 3 dogs whom I rescued and love so much. I also will stop the car if I see a lost dog. Bring him home..bathe him...feed him...make fliers...try to find his guardians. I also match up people who post on craigslist that they lost a dog and another person post the same picture of a dog they found. I love when that happens...of course I have a list of questions and offer recommendations so this does not happen again. Wait here's the thing--if there is a lost dog in my neighborhood...well many times I will just open the front door and there he will be. Dogs just know that my house is where they will find safety and love.
like to stay in more than go out...but once out I'm happy. Dancing is one of my favorite activities and raising global consciousness is amazing.

I grew up in Ohio and lived in Utah and California before moving to New York and recently moved back to Ohio. I have been vegan since September 2008 (vegetarian about a year and a half before switching). I have worked helping animals for the past 13+ years. I started as an adoption counselor at a humane society in Ohio, than a dog caregiver at a large sanctuary in Utah, and for over 8 years I was a caregiver for farm animals at a sanctuary. I have a degree in Criminal Justice, but after a few years realized that helping animals was the direction I wanted to go with my career and life, and I haven't had any regrets. I have one four legged child who runs my life (no two legged ones for me). When I am not taking care of the animals at work or my girl at home, I enjoy spending time outside going for walks, hikes and biking. I arise every morning before dawn in order to walk barefoot around Festival Park. To keep my mind from wandering, I sing Sufi Dance songs, including my favorite.

I began this ritual in the summer of 2024, and skipped only the one day when a rainstorm scared me off. Now that it’s November, the frost makes the nail on the big toe of my left foot feel like it’s about to fall off, but I’m still out there. Come December, when the snows come, I suspect that my routine will change. Probably, I’ll sing Christmas carols.
