Writing is a big part of what I do for a living, but describing myself is something else altogether. Veganism has become a big part of my life and often it's hard to find like-minded people. I like the challenge of making whole and healthy vegan meals that everyone enjoys (vegan or not). Cooking has become a significant hobby. Of course, conversation is always key and I am pretty good at seeing more than one side of an issue. Honesty and integrity are very, very important. I can also be pretty funny and a bit of a story teller. I try to keep things in perspective in dealing with the ups and downs of life. Sometimes I succeed and sometimes I fail (at least in the short term) I'm a good and reliable friend and support for my family and friends. Apart from love, my greatest passion is compassion.
I also enjoy a fair bit of yoga, travel, spending time with my adult kids, and friends. I work maybe a bit too hard, but I could arrange to work less to spend time with the right person.
I've spent many years raising my kids and working. I want to feel in love again and share the joy of intimate friendship.

My educational background is BS in Chemistry and a Masters in Math and Computer Science. Most of my career has been in computer science. I ran a software company for 14 years and sold it. I subsequently got bored and gave myself a job.
Now my day job is web design. My nighttime passion is dancing. I devote much of my free time in dance practice as a competitive ballroom dancer I compete currently at the championship level throughout the US. I'm a former Stanford University adjunct professor where I taught social dance for 9 years. I also authored their social dance curriculum.
I enjoy movies/tv (esp. sci-fi), theatre (esp. musicals), occasional ice skating (I was quite adept in my 20s, but pretty rusty now), and chilling at a beach or retreat center. I use to do yoga, but not so much lately.
I also enjoy traveling. My last biggie was one month in Tawain. So inspired, I'm currently learning Mandarin Chinese. I'm still pretty bad (我的中文不好).
I'm also bi-coastal. Until the pandemic hit, I'd spend a few months/year in Pompano Beach (South Florida) where I have a condo. The remainder of the year, unless traveling, I spend at my primary home in Los Altos Hills (Northern California).

Finding it impossible to date someone who is ok with killing animals to shove in their mouth. I’ve volunteer at an animal rescue sanctuary, and love the place. All of the beautiful things in life are so much better when shared with someone special,..... music, art, a poem, reading a good book or story aloud, food/cooking,hiking around. Ya know what I mean? Dating someone nice can be fun but finding someone special, now that's the challenge. I'm looking to cherish, lift up, to be both passionate and compassionate, to laugh with and learn from one another. Hiking Hollywood Hills, supervising volunteers with Tree People near Mullholland above the Valley. Lately as a vegetarian not just involved in environmental but animal concerns I've been a regular volunteer at Gentle Barn. A farm animal rescue place that is so beautiful in so many ways. I like small unique restaurants over cookie cutter ones, am aware of others feelings, I've been told I'm attentive and romantic, like to play piano and sing as well as percussion instruments, work with and ride horses occasionally, , currently in college for Business and Art History, Coordinate volunteers for charities, am from an awesome loving family and know how fortunate I am to be, a 5th generation L. A. native, a lover of animals both domestic and otherwise and a bit uncomfortable writing about or selling myself too much but when in Rome..... Like most people I like "nice things" but truly appreciate the important things. I'm in a career field helping those in need. Not always what I want to do but it is what God wants me to do. I like to drive up the coast and stop in fun or interesting places along the way. Would much rather talk on the phone and meet after a few e-mails where one can hear those important inflections. Yes?

In terms of religious beliefs, I am culturally Jewish, but entirely non-observant. It would be more accurate to state that I am a secular humanistic neo-Platonist, but for some strange reason that wasn’t one of the check list categories provided on this platform. I usually have several books on the go. Recent reads: “Tropic of Chaos: Climate Change and the New Geography of Violence”, by Christian Parenti and “The Selfish Gene” by Dawkins. The writings of Wendell Berry have been inspirational for me and I often refer to them in my lectures. In that vein, I am currently reading “Call of the Reed Warbler,” by Charles Massy. In addition to reading books and journals that are related to my work, I enjoy biographies (“Notorious RBG: The Life and Times of Ruth Bader Ginsburg” is on my birthday wish list) and I love classic works of historical fiction (Dumas, Scott) in particular. My favourite author, though, is W. Somerset Maugham.
