I studied nutrition but my work is in the legal area. I enjoy my dog, gardening, reading and walking, being outside, always learning, open-minded. Are you vaccinated? What a platform to start a conversation here. I certainly agree that animal research for vaccines is wrong, wrong, wrong. Sometimes we have to go outside our comfort zone. I am sure if I were younger, I would stand by morals and not take a vaccine that may contain animal and has been tested on animals. I guess we all go through phases at different times in our lives and sometimes our views change. In Islam, their belief is that if you consume an animal, and it is prayed over, it will be used for wellness and holiness in the person consuming it.

I think everything about how we approach romantic relationships is more or less completely upside down. Let's first investigate who we are to one another, and if we share a mutual admiration for and enjoyment of one another. No timeline, no pressure, no particular goal in mind, just an open interest in whatever emerges. Of course romance is wonderful if that is what is in store for us! But let's stay open and curious and avoid the usual scripts.
All that said, a bit about me and what is most important to me.
I've been vegan for 20+ years and was vegetarian many years prior to that. Veganism and a stance of moral equality with animals is a core pillar of my moral and ethical worldview and something I need to have in common with my most significant connections.
I'm passionate about veganic permaculture and I live on a spectacularly overgrown and almost entirely untamed five acres in rural West Virginia, where I don't have an HOA to complain about my bad behavior.
I work as a coach and counselor, and I am a huge believer in (good!) therapy. If you don't have a very good sense of how your childhood wounds are still influencing your patterns and emotional capacity as an adult, and you don't have a real passion for healing and expanding that capacity, we probably won't be able to develop much of a connection.
I would say I'm "spiritual but not religious," as annoying as that phrase is. I believe we are spiritual beings having a physical experience, and that our prime directive is to grow toward truth and love. I find a great deal of faith in the divine order to things (and the nature of that divine order) by observing the natural world.
I'm over a decade sober, and as part of my recovery I practice (or try to, however awkwardly and uncomfortably and imperfectly) radical honesty. This is on a moment-by-moment basis, self-disclosure of what is coming up and what is happening. I deeply desire to find this in others as well. Sober, vegan, radically honest....I'm a lot of fun at parties!

I grew up in Ohio and lived in Utah and California before moving to New York and recently moved back to Ohio. I have been vegan since September 2008 (vegetarian about a year and a half before switching). I have worked helping animals for the past 13+ years. I started as an adoption counselor at a humane society in Ohio, than a dog caregiver at a large sanctuary in Utah, and for over 8 years I was a caregiver for farm animals at a sanctuary. I have a degree in Criminal Justice, but after a few years realized that helping animals was the direction I wanted to go with my career and life, and I haven't had any regrets. I have one four legged child who runs my life (no two legged ones for me). When I am not taking care of the animals at work or my girl at home, I enjoy spending time outside going for walks, hikes and biking. I get the most fulfillment from simply connecting with other beautiful souls - getting to know and appreciate them without selfish ego agendas. Hobbies include daily exercise (with full body resistance training every other day), consuming content from NPR (especially via KQED Radio) and the PBS Newshour, and pursuing opportunities to help better myself or support the world around me :). Other than that, though, I'm very open to new experiences or activities, too.
Native English speaker and somewhat proficient in Spanish. I'm always up for learning more languages, especially if it helps me communicate with you or your loved ones better.
I was formerly pre-health (medical/dental) and then switched to project management because it has allowed me to continue working with and spending time with my family.
Twenty years from now, when those family opportunities are less prevalent, I'll probably look to go back to school (ideally to study something to help reduce animal and/or environmental exploitation, although hopefully humans are no longer doing that 20 years from now :p) or look into more lucrative professional options (and donate any earnings beyond what I would hope to remain a fairly frugal lifestyle to high-impact charities promoting animal welfare.)
Those plans are definitely flexible, however, especially if that flexibility would help me to better support the happiness of a wonderful vegan partner :)
