I'm a vegan working as a data scientist!
I love exploring new things and have a lot hobbies - playing the piano, knitting and crocheting, drawing and digital art, reading, scuba diving, dancing, and more! I've built a full life for myself in Toronto where I live alone and work from home.
My regular day involves working, daily admin and chores, piano practice, weight training 2x a week, dance lessons 2x a week. I try to read a book but if I'm knitting I'm likely watching a show instead. Otherwise I'm a voracious reader. On weekends I like to hang out with friends - either online by playing games together or in person doing fun activities and exploring the city.
My dream is to sock enough away so that I can explore a second career without financial worries. One of my dreams is also to be a perpetual student - there's so much to learn and so little time! My training was in biomedical sciences and I pivoted into Machine Learning at the end of my Masters. While I love my career now, there are many things I'm interested in like astrophysics and concept art. I am directionally moving towards a future where I can take this risk. I like to explore new possibilities and opportunities and as a result my life has the habit of taking a big turn every 4-5 years. Despite all this I'm a very practical and responsible person and do not take risks without extensive preparation and consideration.
I'm a big believer in learning new things and expanding our comfort zones. I also believe in having big dreams and working towards them by learning from the best. I'm currently working on making better choices and building healthier relationships with the help of a therapist and it has been a life changing process.
I don't believe in being in relationships or friendships just to avoid loneliness. I believe in intentional relationships, respecting each other's time, and putting in effort to build a relationship that adds incredible value to the individuals. Well-rounded, eclectic and baggage-free describes me well. At any point I have several projects on the go requiring a wide range of skills and aptitudes. I was originally, and still am, qualified as an accountant although, apart from a pro-bono audit of a little Buddhist charity every year, I have not regularly done any accounting for quite some time.
The daily yoga and meditation I practise and everything else I do are spontaneously guided and effortless. Yoga has given me a strong and supple body with a spirit to match that belie my age.
Friends sometimes describe me as slightly eccentric which is taken as a compliment....but I'm not sure that's entirely correct. Certainly I'm healthily unpredictable, acutely intuitive, sometimes non-conformist in a conservative way and a little Machiavellian. On balance I'm probably intellectual with a dry philosophical sense of humour that is never at anyone else's expense. I can be chatty and cheerful while at other times intense and focused.
I prefer intimate one-on-one situations and steer clear of noisy places and crowds. Simple pursuits are more to my liking. I am dedicated to the people around me including allowing them space where space is needed.
I've described myself as a non-drinker as one alcoholic drink per month is about the limit of my enjoyment in that regard....call that what you will.
My style is relaxed and informal and my timeless spirit always shines through. Compliments from women about my eyes and my smile are not uncommon.
