I am a Southern Baptist refugee, Buddhist after Episcopal experience, and won't argue or disrespect anyone's (non-violent) beliefs. I was introduced to Zazen meditation by a Jesuit priest, and have practiced for years. I have long pondered philosophical questions (still do), and intend to continue my quest to be confused at a higher level (or maybe lower?).
I went to college for engineering, worked with computers in many industries and several countries, and have traveled for work, fun and romance.
I am staff for a cat. I enjoy communing with nature and trying to cultivate my homestead.
I was married (long time), divorced, survived and rebuilt life after Hurricane Katrina, and last year lost my long-time partner to Alzheimer’s (we had met here in 2011). I learned some hard lessons (see disasters, above...).
I like to read, fly, practice yoga and meditation, drink coffee and converse, travel, and learn. I like museums, art, architecture, history, music, and theater. For eight years I lived happily in the south of France in the beautiful Gaillac area; where the rolling hills are crisscrossed with vines, and sunflowers, the roads are clear and there was peace and beauty.
I shared my life with my wonderful collie cross dog who became thirteen years old and a joy. I left, as she ( my dog) was coming to the end of her life and I wanted her to spend her last times with my ex - her ‘daddy’ who also loved her, whose health wasn’t too good and who really needed to be walking!
But now, three years down the line, I am back in the UK. My darling dog is no more. I am still single. Still looking for an environmentally aware, preferably vegan man.
I do that now he, You (?) will find me 😊. Easier perhaps now I’m in the uk?
Here, in West Sussex, i go to the gym, love playing tennis, to swim in the sea - which practically is on my doorstep - and to walk along the riverbank.

I just don't see myself loving someone who doesn't care about killing / eating animals. For many of us, being a veggie is so much more than simply a diet.
I'm a former airline pilot changing careers (not by choice). My highly profitable airline was bought out, suddenly unexpectedly closed, the airline pilot retirement age was raised from 60 to 65 (no attrition for five years), and the economy was horrible. I sure miss flying the Boeing 727...the feeling of 48,000 pounds of thrust at my fingertips is difficult to duplicate! The beauty of the Earth from above is so breathtaking. A scratch in my eye from a brand new contact lens has cost me the career I so enjoyed. I went back to school and obtained my LPN, but have not used it yet due to a number of family tragedies. I had been taking care of my vegan Mom full time. Congestive heart failure is no fun. She fought a valiant battle, but is no longer with me. Now I am working on getting my house ready for sale to move into my parents (a few acres and a swimming pool).
I love music - tastes range from classical to oldies (Sinatra) to alternative, but I especially enjoy acoustic Latin / Mediterranean guitar. Hammocks - such a simple invention, but so relaxing! Canoeing, boating, bicycling, experiencing nature, tennis, or even throwing a Frisbee are all fun fair weather activities.
Based on my profile, you probably wouldn't guess I love to laugh, and joke around often. Sometimes my delivery is too dry for people to realize I'm joking...love watching the five second delay as someone gets it! I also enjoy a nice cuddle, going for walks, deep, and not so deep discussions.

Twenty years from now, when those family opportunities are less prevalent, I'll probably look to go back to school (ideally to study something to help reduce animal and/or environmental exploitation, although hopefully humans are no longer doing that 20 years from now :p) or look into more lucrative professional options (and donate any earnings beyond what I would hope to remain a fairly frugal lifestyle to high-impact charities promoting animal welfare.)
Those plans are definitely flexible, however, especially if that flexibility would help me to better support the happiness of a wonderful vegan partner :)
