I like to be active and keep in decent shape; not buff, but not pudgy either… kind of a happy medium! I like to do things outdoors and be active, but I have to admit I can Netflix Binge with the best of them, or spend an entire day moving from couch, to chair, to lawn chair, to bed, and back to the couch reading good a book. I’m pretty middle of the road politically. I used to lean more to the right, but now lean more to the left. I strongly believe in doing what we can to minimize climate change. I spend most of my time in El Paso where i work, but also own a home in Albuquerque where my two of my children live. I visit them every few months. I also have a daughter in Minneapolis and a son in Virginia Beach who I visit once or twice a year. I would love to travel more but work gets in the way. My ‘plan’ is to cut back to 20 hrs/week at age 62 and I’m on track to meet that goal. I’m excited and apprehensive about it at the same time. I sooo want to work less, but I sooo sooo don’t want to be bored. I think going part-time will be a good stepping stone for me, and will give me more time to travel. In the meantime, I’m just enjoying my job and interacting with my clients and co-workers and visiting my kiddos when I can.

I am vegan, have been since I was 21. It’s important to me that my partner is also vegan, or at least willing to adopt this lifestyle. This simply means that I want my partner to be compassionate and empathetic with loving intentions for himself and everyone else, regardless of the species to which they were born.
Basically, my ideal life would be in a world where everyone is safe and happy. I know that may sound naive but I believe that love is the answer to pretty much everything. If everyone felt safe and loved I don’t see how they could be violent or selfish or unkind in any way. So this is why I’m so frequently ‘accused’ of being an idealist, although this is generally chosen as a word to make me feel less than realistic and therefore somewhat stupid, I always accept the label with happiness:)
I believe we are all connected, and that the majority of humans will awaken to this in my lifetime.
I love animals so much! They are complete love. They don’t hold onto anger or resentment like so many humans seem to do and are so very easy to be around:)
I don’t really have any hobbies, but I do work out and keep myself healthy, strong and fit. I love a good movie and like a very wide range of music. I love to spend time with friends, good conversation is awesome! I love to have fun, and laughter is the very best way I’ve found to do that:)
I work from home, which is wonderful, working in pajamas is so much better than in a suit! Plus the commute is easy:)

I just don't see myself loving someone who doesn't care about killing / eating animals. For many of us, being a veggie is so much more than simply a diet.
I'm a former airline pilot changing careers (not by choice). My highly profitable airline was bought out, suddenly unexpectedly closed, the airline pilot retirement age was raised from 60 to 65 (no attrition for five years), and the economy was horrible. I sure miss flying the Boeing 727...the feeling of 48,000 pounds of thrust at my fingertips is difficult to duplicate! The beauty of the Earth from above is so breathtaking. A scratch in my eye from a brand new contact lens has cost me the career I so enjoyed. I went back to school and obtained my LPN, but have not used it yet due to a number of family tragedies. I had been taking care of my vegan Mom full time. Congestive heart failure is no fun. She fought a valiant battle, but is no longer with me. Now I am working on getting my house ready for sale to move into my parents (a few acres and a swimming pool).
I love music - tastes range from classical to oldies (Sinatra) to alternative, but I especially enjoy acoustic Latin / Mediterranean guitar. Hammocks - such a simple invention, but so relaxing! Canoeing, boating, bicycling, experiencing nature, tennis, or even throwing a Frisbee are all fun fair weather activities.
Based on my profile, you probably wouldn't guess I love to laugh, and joke around often. Sometimes my delivery is too dry for people to realize I'm joking...love watching the five second delay as someone gets it! I also enjoy a nice cuddle, going for walks, deep, and not so deep discussions.

I became widowed and retired at about the same time. I really did not have a plan or thought about this circumstance I find myself in. I have avoided eating animals for going on 15 years now. When I considered meeting new people, I found that I am not interested in building new friendships or bonding with people that do not share my thoughts and beliefs about plant-based eating. I am nearly 70, so why waste the effort. I have old friends who just think I'm weird, and have known me long enough to be accepting of my quirks, being vegan is just another one. When I thought about dating again, I decided they must be plant-based, vegan or vegetarian. My sweet wife was all of those at different times. I recently did a 3-year stint to get a tech degree (on top of my original creative writing BA) only to find that the job is awful and I don't want it. Honestly, though that was my ticket to the upper-middle class, I feel like I dodged a bullet.
