I live in the country with 1 horse, 3 sheep, 2 dogs, 5 cats in the house, 2 in the tack room and a good-sized garden. I currently work from home. I have been living in the country for nine years and it has been a major adjustment. I'm looking to start regular exercise and yoga soon. I am very project-oriented and spend zero time watching television. I really like the internet and have tried unsuccessfully to implement a ban on it after 6 pm to ensure I wind down enough to get enough sleep at a decent time for this life style. My spiritual life has been whacked out of balance by my move out here but I am working to strengthen my spiritual practices (prayer and meditation) since I have the hang of life out here now (the basic cycles anyways). I am also hoping to find time to get back to one of my most satisfying past-times - sewing and making things.
I do not see a traditional retirement in the cards for me - I love working and see myself continuing with my education in order to learn more and stay marketable. Horses don't come cheap!

Long and winding road. Rural Texas upbringing. UTAustin, intending to be a physicist, but it was the late sixties and there were lots of distractions going by, many of which were wearing very tiny skirts, so, long story short, a stint in San Francisco and Berkeley as a charter member of the Hippies, and then an extended second act as an engineer running my small SoCal firm until, yippie, retirement. Please tell me I won't be putting "The End" up yet.
I never used tobacco and have not had an ounce of booze since 1971, being careful what I ingest; and I think it not at all incongruous that I am 420 friendly.
I believe that the physical Universe has an associated mentality, and have always felt that spirituality was my vocation, and engineering just my avocation. I believe that all consciousness is One, and had a motto placed on my bank checks stating that "Animals are our equals, there is no Master Race". But I think the established religions are just power freaks wanting an exclusive franchise on something powerful, and the whole New Age thing was too unscientific for me, although I LOVE New Agers, in general, with their fine states of consciousness making their superstitions not a turn off, in spite of their illogic. I have a country home polished over the decades to be just what I want, and, frankly, I stay at home a lot, surrounded by my own forest. Not agoraphobic, no fear of leaving ... but I have been Home, and I have been to numerous other places, and there really is no place like Home.
My favorite activity is singing, and I sing along with satellite radio for hours a day. I have a decent singing voice, and I would love to sing duets with someone every now and then, as we enjoyed our retirement hours. Also, I might mention that my coffee may be better than any other you have ever had ... I roast my own beans from the world's finest varieties and brew a quite unique creation of my own, which I call EspressoSanDiego. So if you take coffee as seriously as some do, I have suddenly gone near the top of your list.
PS please do not let my age deter you ... check my pix, and see what a lifetime of vegetarianism can do for health and appearance. I look quite a bit younger than what you would expect from a guy born in the first half of the 20th Century, and I'm not certain I ever matured emotionally beyond fourteen, or at least that's how old I see myself. Still fourteen.

Real talk. I lost my partner of 9 years to a motorcycle accident last March. I’m not looking for or expecting the next great thing. If that happens down the road, cool. I am a creative person, trying (belatedly!) to pursue an art career having previously worked in communications for the Vegetarian Society and a Community Forest. I would like to live 6/12 months in a village in a self-governing pacific island.
every now and again, i investigate where that island might be.
i did live on a self-governing pacific island around 40 with my young son for 5 months. it was blissful except for the tiny biting flies. i had tropical ulcers on my legs. the flies did not affect my son or the locals. c’est la vie. it was blissful because, as the people were not colonised, living as nature intended and still self-governing (each region has a chief), the society was sane. and at peace.
regarding my primary photo of 2018 - i have been ill for more than two years from a hidden mould infestation. six weeks ago - August ‘22, we discovered the mould. and solved the mystery of why i was ill. yes, the mould was under the wooden floorboards - i like to sleep on a sleepmat on the floor. i am still recovering so i am not going to take a new photo yet.
i am learning to be retired. i have been a soil consultant for 7 years, as my second career. when covid lockdowns were enforced, i was managing a 100 acres eco beach farm. maintenance kept me outside and fit. the owner returned to the farm and i was out of a job and home. so i moved to Cairns when i am still residing.
i have no idea how much i weigh.
i am average weight and need to shed some around the midriff and arms.
all during the hidden mould infestation, i was mostly sedentary as i was having trouble breathing.
i am about to sign on to a “find a crew” for daily sails to increase my fitness.
this is the first time i have interacted since signing up.
i possibly will not write for a while. as i am probably not able to give this the attention it needs.
perhaps i will be able to when i regain some fitness.

I was a social worker for nearly 20 years. I’ve always worked with children. I have a strong sense of wanting to help others. I’m currently working in children’s mental health. Despite it being a very full on job, which I absolutely love, I can switch off in the evening.
I have a strong sense of right and wrong and I do my own research. I’ve known for a long time that what we’re told about government, big pharma and multi conglomerate corporations isn’t the truth. It therefore won’t be a surprise to read that I have chosen not to poison myself with a vaccination. I’ve spoken out about this a lot over the last 5 years and lost a lot of friends. I’m okay with that. We all have to take a stand for what we believe is right.
There are two things I can’t compromise on; I won’t go out with anyone who eats animals and I can’t see myself with someone who willingly chooses to turn a blind eye to what’s happening in the world and the freedoms being removed from us. Beyond that, I’m open!
